Travelling on advanced parole question

I'm travelling with my wife (who is travelling on advanced parole) to Mexico on Monday. Her passport expires on May 21st 2008. I'm staying with her until mid December and she is planning on staying with her parents until early January. I believe that her passport has to be at least 6 months valid when she will be entering the US and it will only be about 5 months and 20 days in early January. Does she need to renew her passport in order to re-enter the US in January?
 
If she can renew her passport it would be better. However returning on an AP, I am sure she will not be turned away just because her passport has less than 6 months of validity.

Hi,

I entered using AP a few months ago and they did not question me on the passport expiration. My passport was valid only for three more months when I entered.
