I recently became LPR through Marriage to USC. I recently took a trip to Canada and experienced a very ugly Immigration experience. I had my I-55 stamp in my Canadian passport. The Immigration officers at Pearson Intl airport are animals.
The officer didn't even know what to ask me and was just holding my passport. They are not weel trained. he finally decided to take me for secondary inspection where other offier had asked me several questions and then after an hour let me go.
I'm just wondering if anyone in this forum had ever experienced such behaviour from these animals. Is there a number i can call to file my complaint?
My advice is definately never fly to Canada? Go by car!!!

Getting taken into secondary is pretty standard with an I-551 stamp.

My and my wife's experiences going through Pearson have always been straighforward, wether on TN/TD, H-1/H-4 or with the plastic card. Other than delaying you, what exactly did the "animals" do?

RealCanadian,
What i really hate is the officer not keeping us informed. He didn't even bother telling us what he is doing and why? He should atleast told me that he needs to run a background check etc? Also when i first approach the counnter and told him i'm the LPR and i have the stamp in my passport. He replied with the Attitude that "He is not going to open my passport and look for Stamp". I have to open it and show it to him. Remember i was traveling with my family and handed over three passports to the officer. I not truely believes all the articles about the bad experience in Toronto Star. I guess it's not new!!!! It's been going around for a while. Somebody should put a leashed on these "Animals".

I disagree travelling by car. My father-in-law is a US citizen and has travelled to Canada twice in the past year. First time around he drove. On the way back, he was put up for a security check for 2 1/2 hours (remember...he is a USC). When he complained, the officer politely gave him a 800 number to file a complain. The officer said that its a routine policy to check all people with brith country of Pakistan as int he case of my father-in-law. When asked if this was discrimination, the officer replied that these are the orders from home land security and he can file a complain if he wants to. My father-in-law (being a super USC) opted not to file a complain.

2 months ago, he flew to Canada, however, through Dallas. He did not have any issues at the immigration. He said that it was just like flying to any other US city except that he had to show his passport instead of DL.

Canadian immigration is tough lately, I think it is partly in response to the toughening of US entry requirements.

A year ago a friend of mine- girl, born in the US and white american, was refused entry when she came to visit me in Vancouver. Why? You think she is a terrorist, drug addict, prison escapee? None of the above.

The reason was that she looked strange (dressed like a punk) and was foolish enough to say she is unempoyed, also fogot my phone number on top of that (i was gonna meet her at the bus station), so, she travelled by Greyhound bus all the way from San Diego, Ca, to the border and then got turned back, despite the fact that she is a US citizen by birth and had no criminal record or any other valid reason to be refused entry!

What do you expect after that?

I have reported my incident to our Congressman and below is the response i have recevied from his office. I now feel good, that atl east my incident didn't go un-noticed.

"Thank you for contacting my office in reference to your situation.
My staff has contacted the US Customs and Border Patrol.
Unfortunately, they have explained that even if a name is not an
exact match but is similar to one on the 'watch list' and the
individual has similar characteristics, they are required to
investigate. They apologize for the inconvenience but ask people
to please be patient and understanding seeing how this is a matter
of National Security.

If you should have any questions, please feel free to contact my
district office at 630-832-5950."

Very Truly Yours,

Henry J. Hyde

She's dressed like a freak, has no job, no money (since she's going by bus) and is meeting a boyfriend whose phone number she can't even remember? If I tried that entering the US they'd say "Get lost, deadbeat!"

You're not crossing the border in either direction like that.
