Traveling to hawaii with an expired H1 visa stamp

H1 visa on my passport has expired and I have an approved H1 extention. I'm planning to travel to Hawaii from Atlanta. I'm not sure if I will be asked for a valid visa on my passport while coming back. Any insight on this issue will be appretiated.

Anybody ??? I have the same problem, valid status but expired visa... Any problem going to Hawaii ? Thanks.
 
Alaska and Hawaii are not part of the contiguous US mainland, but they are still US states. Only agricultural checks are performed when departing from Honolulu. You will be asked if you are carrying any pineapples back to the mailnland, nothing else :)
