AmazingI just came back from Canada using my home passport and Green card. The process took less than 1 minutes, but I was fingerprinted and let me in without asking any questions.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Can we use our country passport and no travel document required?I just came back from Canada using my home passport and Green card. The process took less than 1 minutes, but I was fingerprinted and let me in without asking any questions.
They didn’t ask anything about travel document, and I have never had RTDThanks for sharing your experience. Can we use our country passport and no travel document required?
Thank you. They didn’t ask anything about travel document, and I have never had RTD
I think traveling on your home country passport is not a good idea. They didn’t ask anything about travel document, and I have never had RTD
Was you passport still active when asylum granted or you renewed it!They didn’t ask anything about travel document, and I have never had RTD
I’ve seen people do it tbh, but not going back to home country. If he has a good reason why then it won’t be a problem at naturalisation especially if he becomes a citizen after this administrationI think traveling on your home country passport is not a good idea.
no I didn’t go back to my home countryI think traveling on your home country passport is not a good idea.
Hi may I ask if you apply for the RTD yourself? Did you submit any documents besides the actual form? Like a recent photo, DL/EAD, and a document that proves Asylee status?Hi People my husband and I Just returned from Panama ( no Visa needed it) Just RTD no GC yet, no questions asked besides the reason for traveling, I went to second inspection, just five minutes.
GO TRAVEL WITH YOUR RTD
It’s straight forward you can do it yourself. I submitted my proof of asylum two passport size photos and DL along with it. Got my receipt in a week and previous biometrics were applied.Hi may I ask if you apply for the RTD yourself? Did you submit any documents besides the actual form? Hi, I applied for an RTD recently. Are you an LPR (Green Card holder) who got it through asylum and now planning to switch to a re-entry permit instead of an RTD?Hello, has anyone applied for a re-entry permit recently?
Yes I am.Hi, I applied for an RTD recently. Are you an LPR (Green Card holder) who got it through asylum and now planning to switch to a re-entry permit instead of an RTD?
Thanks for confirming! Have you traveled on your RTD before? Just wondering if it’s safe for asylee-based LPRs or if a re-entry permit might be better.Yes I am.
Yes, I have traveled with the RTD and it was safe for me. It depends on the country and the airline you choose to travel. This is my first time applying for a re entry permit instead of an RTD because it is valid for two years. In my opinion, the re entry permit is not accepted as a travel document in some countries like the RTD, but the country I plan to visit does accept it. Also, it is usually easier to re enter the US with a re entry permit than with an RTD, though it can still depend on each person’s situation and a bit of luck. Thanks for confirming! Thanks for sharing this information. The 2-year validity of the re-entry permit definitely sounds like a good advantage over the RTD.Yes, I have traveled with the RTD and it was safe for me. Can approved asylee request re-entry permit in lieu of RTD? I was under the assumption that RTD is the only way.Yes, I have traveled with the RTD and it was safe for me. A re-entry permit is for U.S. green card holders who plan to stay outside the United States for more than six months. It helps them return to the U.S. without risking their permanent resident status. In some cases, the re-entry permit can also be used as a travel document instead of a passport, similar to a Refugee Travel Document. However, only a limited number of countries accept the re-entry permit as a travel document instead of a passport, while the RTD is recognized by many more countries worldwide. Can approved asylee request re-entry permit in lieu of RTD?
