Someone who got just her national nepali passport and on unlawful status wants to travel from newyork to minnosotta on plane. Will that be a problem?
she got student visa but thats invalid as she didn't attend the class and has instead plan to apply for political asylum in minnisotta.
I personally don't think the domestic airline agent will check her visa status except her photo and info on passport side.
Or there is a risk that they will know her invalid status and hand her over to immigration authorities?

Will the airline have her name on they computer system because she skipped her class and she is on invalid status?

Should she travel on train or bus instead?

thanks .

She should not have any problem because domestic traveling does not have anything to do with immigration or her visa status unless she gets in some kind serious problem.
Airline just need ID to let her board the plane, In the country that mexicans drive with mexican driver liscense and lot of their mexican ID's is accepted by authoritirs, national passport should be accepted by airline or boarding a plane on domestic flight without headache.
Good luck on her asylum case.

I think she should be careful in traveling because last few times my parents have traveled, the officers at Phoenix airport have flipped through the visa. Maybe PHX is close to Mexico thats why but you should be careful.

The only job of an airline employee who checks the I.D. before boarding a domestic flight is verified that the person who has the air-ticket is the same person who present the official I.D. in this case if the passport has English translation on the front page then the airline employee doest have why to flip the pages to check if there is any visa on it. Don’t know if actually is against any particular regulation but I working in a institution when we check I.D’s on the regular basic , most of them foreign passport and we are not allow to check beyond the front page, but even if he/she does it , remember something he/she does NOT hold the right to make any type of question beyond confirm the person identity. Now the airport may be in a height alert or have a special or surprising visit for the real immigration officers and she may have the bad luck to get check by them, that is a real risk and only she have the decision to take it or not.

TSA is neither qualified nor tasked with border security. They have no clue what a visa is, what it looks like, or what its good for. In general, whenever you are in the US there is a risk you will run into some federal authorities who may check your visa status, but considering that 20 million people or so live in the US illegally, I would say that risk is low.
