Is it ok to travel while H1B and H4 extension of status has been filed and pending?

Our current H1B and H4 status are valid till October 2006 and we also have our passports stamped till October 2006.

Please advise. Thanks

you can travel but you will get I-94 till October 2006 at POE, better to travel after H1 EXT is approved or you get approval notice before you enter US so that at POE you show valid Visa stamp and H1 Ext approval notice and get I-94 till H1 approval notice.

My h1 expires in Dec'06. I have already filed for an extension. Presently I dont have a valid stamping on my passport because i have not gone out of the country for over 2 years. So now when i got out i will have to get a stamping done. Im thinking of getting it done in Toronto.

But I will have to go out of the country next week and stay in Canada for sometime. I will be coming back in Feb'07. My lawyer says it is ok and he will just mail me the h1 approval once he gets it and then i can use that to get a new stamping done. Has anyone done this before. do you know if this fine ?
