Travel visa from for USA for canadian who has PR Card

Can somebody please guide me what my family need to do if they have Candadian PR card and they want to visit me in USA?
 
this is my understanding

If their country of citizenship is a visa waiver country then they can enter the United States without a visa. Otherwise they need to make an appointment to apply for a visa at a U.S. consulate in Canada.
