Travel outside US without Physial card

My dad just arrived here in US on green card. He will go back after 6 weeks of stay. we have not received physical card yet .

would there be any problem to back to india and returning to US ?

greencard stamp is in the passport.

going to india by via geneva and doha qatar

any help is appreciated
 
Going back for what purpose? he is supposed to be living in the USA.

But to answer your question, no, there will not be a problem leaving right now... for as long as he comes back shortly and PERMANENTLY RESIDES in the USA.

Well if he got in the US with just his I-551 stamp without his GC the first time,then he should be able to again right?
 
not with AirFrance. They just recently didn't allow boarding for one of the another forum participants from Israel to the US - she only had a stamp. Mind you, it wasn't the US immigration service, but just the airline.

just to take care of family matters for 3-4 months..

planning to reside permanently in US
