Travel limitations with a Passport stamped I-551?

I know it is supposed to be the same as having the actual Green Card, but to play it safe, do I need an AP document to travel with a stamped passport? Anybody have any experience with this?

When you go for I-551 stamp, you have to bring AP to surrender it, therefore you are not supposed to have AP if you have I-551.
So, AP is useless in your case.

Has anybody travelled with the I-551 stamp only? Any issues?

The whole point of the I-551 stamp is so you can travel. You may be referred to secondary inspection for them to validate that you truly are a Permanent Resident, but other than that you should have no issues.

Yes you can

Yes... my wife travel on a stamped passport about 3 years ago, and she didn't have any issued. Her greencard was lost and we were waiting for USCIS to reissue one, so they gave her a stamp.

So, just relax and be on your way out of Uncle Sam to enjoy the rest of the world....
