Guys,

Could you please share your experience travelling with Advance Parole and coming from India at Metro Detroit Airport.

Is it really Hard or easy One ?

What are the documents do you need to carry ? Do they ask for same documents at all Port of Entry or different one ?

Sharing your experience will be appreciated.

All advance parole POE entrants are subjected to secondary inspection- that is, you will be taken to the back office before your I94 and AP will be stamped...

What documents are needed

Hi;
I would be very grateful, if you could explain what documents are going to be needed after I come back to US.

We are going to come back to Detroit too.
Apart from AP and my passport, what else should I carry with myself?

Any help and advice is much appreciated

Regards

---- I-485 filing reciept

I just back two week ago from India . My POE was New York. All I gave the mine and my wifes Passport, AP and filled I-94 to the officer at the counter. He then verified those , put them in a folder and took us to a separate room . There they had couple of officer and we sat down in fron of officer. The officer looked at both of us and then verified all the document , then stamped the I-94, attached it in passport and gave it back to us. thats all . Whole process took 10 minutes or so. Cause we had couple of people waiting before us. He did not ask for any other document. Though I was carrying the following documents.

passport, AP, EAD card , copy of I-485 Receipt , Copy I-140 Receipt copy, Employer letter , last few months paystubs .
I was also carrying few photocopies of AP for me and my wifes in case Airlines asks for a copy . But nobody asked , they just verified it. I flew via LONDON to delhi by BA.
Hope this helps.
Rajiv.

Rajiv,

Thank you for sharing your experienc. I am sure that will help people coming from other countries to USA on Advance Parole.

Rajiv,

As you mentioned that they took both of you to another room, did they check any other documents in their system or they just look at your advance aprole that you were carrying. I mean do they check like status of your I-485 or EAD or I-140 and I don't know.

I am asking this because my wife is coming with 2 infants and I gave her her Adavnce Parole, So I am hoping that they don't check more then that because she is not carrying any other documents.

Thanks for your help.

AP at Ohare Chicago

I flew back to Chicago from Munich, Germany. Immigration officer was nice and she asked me all copies of AP. She stamped arrival stamp on it and stamped my passport. She called her assistant and told her to take a photocopy of my AP and returned all originals of AP. I can tell you that the complete process took less than 5 mintues and we did not exchange any verbal communication on this subject. Now, I am flying back to europe very soon, let see how it goes second time.

The only thing worries me that when you go for check-in for your inbound flight, airline asks your visa number. Now, in this this case (Visa status : Pending AOS), what's the visa number ?

Is it really neecessary to present all copies of advance parole form? My wife plans to re-enter US soon, but she carries only one AP form out of three issued. Is this going to be a problem?
By copies I do not mean photocopies, I am talking about three identical greenish exemplars.

When we travelled last month we carried all(we got only two) our copies . At POE officer looked at both copies but stamped only one and gave us the both back. I guess it should be fine for your wife. Only suggestion , have her make few photocopy of that AP and only gave the copy to airline or immigration people in india if they ask . At POE if officer asks for more copied , she can tell them that she left them here.

hope this helps.
