I have recieved my US TRAVEL DOCUMENT for my assyle. I have questions regarding my Original Country Passport -

1. If i renew my original country passport will this pose a problem for my adjustment of status (485)

2. Does this US TRAVEL DOCUMENT will act as a Passport if i visit some country or i still need to use my original passport?

3. If i use my original passport to enter some countries except my own countries will this pose a problem for my adjustment of status as well?

Please answer it in order if can. Your honest answer will be appreciate it.

Thank You

Hi Thankful

I know friends of mine who use NP to travel to COP and have no problem when they come come back so on july I 'm gonna use my NP to travel to COP I let you know .Stop Scaring people.

Barezi,

Are your friends still under asylum status?

Thankful is right you cant renew your NP during Asylum status but right after you are granted LPR status it becomes your choice though people on the forum strongly recommends you don't do it

I also know OJ Simpson who got away with murder. Just so that you know, when I was in asylum status I consulted three separate lawyers who all advised not to renew passport. This is common sense.

why would you renew your passport if you are saying they will harm you
use the us documentation and why would you go back home??

JW1951,
During your asylum and Green Card days, did you ever renew your NP and did the naturalization officer ever mentioned or questioned it?

I did not renew my passport--I was not that dumb. The naturalization did question it. But it did not come up in my husband's application. Perhaps because he did not travel that often. The point is that they have the right to get into this issue.

JW,

When did you get the citizenship? How long the process? Did you have an interview? Can you tell us about it?

Thanx

It is strongly advised not to renew your passport. However, I have a very close friend who received her citizenship as a result of prior adjustment of status from that of an asylee and she renewed her passport and the officer did not even mention it. It really depends on who you get. But if you are a risk taker, go ahead and renew it. If you are risk averse, I would recommend not renewing it.
