Hey all,

I currently have a stamped H1B visa in my passport from my old employer. This is valid the end of Sept 2009. I recently changed my employer and have a new I797 approval notice with me. I was planning to go to Canada for renewal stamping - I have an appointment for Tuesday but I have not receive my Canadian visa yet (I had send in by mail). So looks like I will have to reschedule another appointment. I have a quick question on this - when do u get ur passport back with the stamped visa in Canada?? I have tried to find this online but get mixed answers.. is it still next day at 3:00 pm or now its after 3-4 days (this is what is written in my appointment confirmation).

Now here is my important question.. yes I know.. sorry for the long email...
I am planning to travel to UK and Europe in the early part of Sept 2009 (remind you all my stamped H1B expires last day of Sept 2009). Now if the visa processing takes 3-4 days in Canada.. I was thinking can I not go for my visa stamping now and still make a trip to UK and Europe and return to US before my stamped visa expires? Will the UK consulate give me the tourist visa?

Thanks for you time.

Looking forward to your response.

-------------------------- you can go to UK and when enter US POE show your Valid H1 Visa stamp in passport AND H1 transfer approval of new employer so that at POE you get I-94 till your new employer H1 approval notice check your I-94 validity at POE.(keep new employer job letter with you and show if asked)
Will the UK consulate give me the tourist visa?
---------------------UK consulate has online system for visa for UK (it may take 1 hour to fill every info on looooooong form. you have to fill the information online and submit. then you need to go for finger prints then you go for UK visa stamp. it may take 1 month to get visa from the date you submit form and then compleate fingerprints.

Thanks for you time.

for Canada visa and when they stamp Visa or give you passport back with visa others will post.

I have a similar situation. I have a H-1B visa (stamped on my passport) valid till Oct 2009 and a new I-797 since I switched jobs, valid till Oct 2011.

I might have to travel to India within the next week. Simply speaking, would they let me back in the US on the basis of these documents (and the employment letter from the employer)?

Has anyone here faced this scenario personally?

at POE show valid H1B visa stamp in passport that is valid till Oct 2009 AND
H1 approval notice of new employer that is valid till Oct 2011 and you will get I-94 valid till 2011. at POE check the I-94 expiry date and if mistake you can point it to the officer. (keep new employer letter with you and show only if asked). update after your trip to India.
Good Luck!!
