Hi RSeth,

May I ask you why you want to change the option now ?

If you are just thinking about the processing time delays recently, in my opinion, the difference could be max 2 months for the I-140 approval (Between Concurrent & Non-Concurrent Options). There were some Early March I-140's approvals with CP options that were reported in this forum for both EB2 & EB3. And as a matter of fact, these patterns keep changing.

My I-140 ND is June 11th, EB2 - CP (Chennai). When I was filing the I-140, the processing times looked very good.. There were cases that got approved in two months for EB2 - CP. So, I was kind of expecting a Dec '03 - Jan '04 time period for my interview at the Chennai Consulate. Now, I am thinking about March - April '04 time frame.

Any way, there were times when I was thinking about changing the option as well, just like you. If you have any other reasons, please post them here.

Waht is this CP interview. Also please clarify about the consulate.
Why do you have to go to Consulate's in India for interview.

Does it save any time.

Online Status is I-140 Approved on 8/19/03, approved in 3 months.

EAD and AP are approved in mid july.

Hopefully NSC will cut processing times for I-485 as well.

I do not have to go to Tokyo, I chose to.
You can change status by filing I-485 and stay in U.S.
For my situation, I didn't want to wait for entire process two more years.

For Chennai, it takes about 4 to 5 months from the date of I-140 approval. I definitely don't know about Tokyo. But my best guess would be that it will be faster than US consulates in India.

The Consular processing threads in this forum have lot of information on the details. I have a word document which is a compilation of several detailed points for Consular Processing that might be useful. Please note that this document is not edited and is just so many copy and paste's from different websites. Also, you will notice that this document is Chennai centric.
