Hello! I am accutely aware that atleast two members of this forum (Lee_haircut & Paramvir1) have recently received Plastic GC without backdating. Can you you guys or anyone else for that matter answer these questions for everybody's benefit:

1. How much fees did you submit? (if any)

2. Did you send back your original GC?

3. What address did you send it to?

4. Have you received any confirmation notice? What does the notice say?

thanks,

Lazerthegreat,
I have not filed I-90 yet. I am also curious to know the answers to the questions you posed.

Paramvir1 - have you gone through the process of fixing the backdating issue?

gracias,
lee_haircut5

my experience

1. No fee. (at least, for me) I didn't pay any fee.

2. Yes. INS will send REF to ask you send back GC to
continue process and schedule bio for you.

3. E-file I-90 will automatically file your document to
service center. (After May 31th, it will be L. A.)

4. Yes. You will receiev e-mail notice about REF confirmation.

noocar! What is your timeline? When did you receive your GC and when did you apply for this correction?

Keep us informed about what happens next?

i just came back from trip to canada using my GC first time.no hassle on way back to the us by road.

i send my i-90 via regular mail.
it's been 10 days..nothing recieved so far.
did'n pay any fees cuz of cis error.
send it to LA

one more intersting thing.
GC which are processed by old ins or dept. of justice were backdated..not only a year some times more.and those cards had justice department stamp.but GC processed by cis or homeland security are not being backdated.am saying this based on couple of my friends GC approvals.

I went on line, filed I-90 through USCIS web site. The appliations were received instantaniously with receipt # assigned. But I had to pay $70 Bio fee using credit card. Otherwise, the system did not allow me to proceed in the early steps.

After that, I mailed supporting documents to USCIS address shown in the e-receipt note. It is MSC address, not LA. The receipt # is MSC05xxxxxxxx.

We have many different ways here to file I-90. It is very interesting to see the results. I keep you updated with any progress in my application.

qlyus! what is your timeline! You could have filed it manually and avoided the fees.

I did not know. I just did not want to go to local USCIS office.

Paramvir1, did you bring RTD? were you asked to show RTD? thanks.

congrats on your GC qlyus,

my Notice Date is: August 24, 2000, still haven't received anything.

What was your Notice Date?

You don't have to pay the fees

I've filled I-90 online to get my GC backdated properly and I didn't have to pay any fee. You guys must have selected the wrong option.

Alex could you forward the link.
Thank-you

To Alex_e38,
Please share your steps to file I-90 online without paying the fees.
And please share with us:
1. How long has it been?
2. Have you gotten the corrected GC yet that is backdated? If so, how long did the whole process take?
3. Did you have to surrender the un-backdated original GC or just copies?

to Paramvir1 and others -
If I fly to Canada, is it enough to carry my GC without RTD? Last time I flew to Canada from SF, the guy at SF airport looked at my RTD and asked me if I have the GC or not. He said giving GC was enough. But I was not sure whether the officers at Canada airport would think the same or not.

What is the rule here if flying?

when you fly to canada..you have to have RTD or passport in your pocession..so they can stamp your arrival entry.no matter you have GC or not.GC is just a visa to canada.and on arrival back you donnt have to go through secondary inspection with GC.

When I was stopped and asked to pay $70, I kind of recalled somebody in this forum said no fee at all. Anyway, I still paid.

When did you file? I think maybe the system was not ready for biometrics yet at that time. Biometrics is new this year, isn't it?

Well, I think it is worth to pay $70 to get one year back :o But I do not know what I do if they reject the backdate and keep the money

So, the i-90 cases are dead quiet. no status change, no mail receipts.

A person I know with ND 02/28/00 who got RFE (Not RFI) and did not have to through this Biometrics stuff has received his plastic GC after about 4 months of waiting time. His GC is CORRECTLY BACKDATED.

So I think that this biometric stuff enhances the speed of GC but these new people do not know to back date the GC's. This error started after Biometrics.
