TN Visa renewal

Hi All,
I am a Canadian working under TN status which will expire in early January 2023.
I would like to know if it is possible to renew my TN visa with the same employer right now at the US ports of entry or if I need to wait until 10 days in advance of my TN expiration before renewing it.

It is probably too soon to renew at the border. (They don't identify it as a renewal, it will actually be a new TN for the same employer so they probably wouldn't issue it right now as your current TN still has quite a bit of time on it). Your employer could file an I-129 to extend the current TN and save a trip to the border later.
 
Thanks @LMBrian for your inputs. I am planning to travel outside the USA on December through January 14 and That is why I wanted to renew it now before travel.
Plus if my employer files an I-29, it will take 2 to 4 months to get the approval.
 
Since you are returning to US on Jan 14, that that would be the time to renew, not before.
 
Thanks @nelsona for your inputs. My concern is I am traveling for holidays and my TN will expire on Jan 7. It means I have to stop working with my company before that and I am not sure if the immigration will let me in.
 
But you will be out of US after Jan 7 - so TN expiry after that - while you are out of the US - shouldn't concern you, right? You are re-applying upon your return and that puts you back "in-status"!
