TN Renewal options

For a Canadian TN holder in FL, is there an option to renew/apply for tn extension other than driving to the nearest us-cdn border or via mail? Any help is much appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Your only other option is to leave the country by some other means (boat, plane) and re-enter US. TN is granted on entry into US. You can go to mexican border if that is more convenient.

I looked into this last year from Florida and the better option at the time was flying to Toronto and "U-turning" back. I didn't have to actually go as the I-129 approval came through the day before I planned to travel.

LMB, was this a new petition? If not, there was no reason to leave US while the I-129 was in process, you would have the grace period.

@nelasona, It was a TD extension petition. The problem I faced was my employer filed for TN and TD extension for myself and dependents in plenty of time, ( a few months prior to TD status expiring). We used normal processing so we should have had lots of time but Covid slowed everything down. So, the 240day/8 month window was getting too close and I booked a flight to Toronto to travel a couple of days prior to expiration. The night before I flew the I-129 was approved!

"@nelasona, It was a TD extension petition".....typo should have read TN extension.

That being said, the I-539 petitions for wife and kids were approved shortly after, outside the 240 day window but they did not leave the US during this processing time.

As you probably know timely files I-539 petitions have unlimited "grace period", as long as the petition is viable (ie. haven't abandoned it) one is protected.
