TN renewal for PE roles after June 2025 updates

Hi there,

I have been working in Private Equity (PE) at TN visa in the Economist category. I have got a bachelors degree in economics. My TN is up for renewal early next year.

Anyone gone through the process of getting a new TN or TN renewal in Investment Banking (IB) or PE roles, after the new requirements came into force? Please share your experience.

Also, anyone to suggest any other work visa options for Canadians (except H1b) in non healthcare roles i.e. PE, IB?

Usually the IB and PE roles’ job responsibilities are more focussed on financial analysis rather than the typical duties an economist performs.

For TN renewal in Private Equity or Investment Banking under the Economist category, ensure your job duties match the category and have an updated offer letter and proof of your economics degree. You can apply at a U.S. port of entry or via USCIS. Other Canadian work visa options outside healthcare include L-1 (intra-company transfer), O-1 (extraordinary ability), and E-2 (investor) visas.
