TN Renewal/ Expiry date on I-94

Hi I had a TN Valid till Dec 2011, while I was going for an International Trip. On my way back, the CBP officer issued me a TN with expiry date 3 years from the entry date. I didn't gave a new application or didn't pay the $50 fee:confused:. What should I do now? When should I renew the TN? In Dec 2011 or Jul 2013?:confused:

I will be making trips in between anyways. Should I clarify during the next trip with the CBP officers?

I would simply renew my TN in Dec 2011 as planned. While the TN is now technically good until July 2013, any digging would find this error, and if they find this in 2012, you and your employer could be in some hot water.
