Hi,

A company files a H1B renewal petition with the USCIS. While the petition is still being processed buy USCIS, the company changes it's name and registered address. I believe (could be wrong) that the company is required to inform the USCIS about the company name and address change.

Now, does another company (in the same situation as above), except that it's filing a TN renewal petition, have to report ther name/address change to the USCIS

Thanks for your help.

A TN would definitely NOT be needed. I would not think that an H1-B would need to be re-applied either. Even if the firm were sold, there would be no new TN (the new firm "assumes all rights and obligations" of the old one), so a simple name change would not need a change.

Don't forget that, given the 1000's of documents/contracts that have been signed under the old name, that any firm that changes its name also a set of docs that "covers" either name, ie "ABC dba XYZ", dba= doing business as.

So, no, a TN does not need to be updated for name change of firm.
