TN change of Employer

Hi everybody!

I am on a TN-1(got my TN last April), and I just got a job offer from another company. I've been reading online and it seems there are two options to change employer: 1. Mailing the I-129 to USCIS. 2. Heading to border and apply for a new TN.

I'm currently working remotely from Canada(my company in bay area is going full remote). Do I have to be physically present in the US while my new employer is filing the I-129? I'm also curious about the second option. I heard the the border is still closed, don't know if I can still apply TN in person.

Any input is greatly appreciated!

I can answer your second question - borders are closed for non-essential travel, but, they are issuing TNs. Couple of members of this forum posted their experience of getting TN at the border during COVID

I will be going to border to get my TN renewed sometime during end of this year as well

The I-129 for TN can be filed for those not in US. Much better to go to border however, It is not closed to business travel for those applying or having a valid work status, regardless of the type of employment.
