TN-1 visa Help

Hi all,

I just received a job offer from an U.S. employer. I am planning to apply for TN Visa, as a Geographer (it falls under Urban Planner/Geographer category) and I am starting to gather all documents.
My questions are:
1. TN Visa Employer letter that needs to be shown at border should be different than the offer letter that the employer will send me? Besides the job description, it should contain the TN category I am applying under and any information about my qualifications? Should I ask the employer to include additional information in his letter?
2. How can I prove my U.S. non-immigrant intentions since I don't own any property in Canada and I am not married? I have a bank account and a provincial driver's licence, would it help?

1. It should not list your TN qualifications, that is for you to prove. Its different than the offer letter becauee it should mention TN category, but it MUST state the the length of employment of no more than 3 years.
Immigration intent is shown by actually applying to immigrate, ie. a Green card, or by marrying a US citizen living in the US. You are not doing that. Unlike tourist status though, TN allows you to live in US without having to maintain a foreign residence. So its not an issue.

The employer asked me to provide hardcopy documentation (proof of identity and ability to work in US) as prescribed online (USCIS I-9 central - Acceptable documents) in order to process all the paper work and hire me. I did some research and I guess the only documents I need to provide to my employer are: my Canadian passport, TN-1 Visa stamped in my passport and the I-94 card issued with it.
 
That sounds about right. Of course that is not your TN qualifications, which is your education. I-9 will be filled out fully when you get your SSN.
 
Thanks Nelsona for clarification. One more question pls: if the employment letter doesn't have in it the applicant's TN occupational category, do you think that could be a problem? Could I make a letter and indicate that XXX is the occupational category I am applying for? Thanks
 
Is the link between your job duties and job title and a single TN category obvious? Then it is not a problem. If it is not obvious, then it might be a problem (please don't present me anymore information -- I'm sure you can make this determination yourself)
