Jharkhand is a state now.

joyd,

You should lead us by examples. You are moderator. I was expecting you will put your thoughts in first 'fursat'. Come on ...

Yep he had to learn it before he was posted in Central America as case officer (aka spy)

joyd said:

As per the Jharkhand (state craved out of Bihar) name yep it has been state for quiet sometime now along with Chittasgarh (from MP) and Uttharachal(from UP) .. Now they are asking for Telangana from Andhra Pradesh.

Even his email says Jharkhandialways...so must be very passionate of Jharkand just like famous Hockey player (Dhanya Chand i think) or it could be that he got so fed up with Laloo antics...( no points for that)

Well...when was the last time Laloo helped common ppl ..Laloo is just in pursuit of Artha for rest of his life ....

Ok my due post(skipping where I am not comfortable/nothing to write):

1. What is the biggest force that keeps you in USA or seeking GC?
When I started it was money. Now it is inertia.

2. What do you miss about your home country/state/city/town/village here?
Life.
What do you think should your place have which is here too?
Nice roads for transportation, less corruption. Rest everything will follow.

3. What is your greatest fear in USA?
Racism.
Greatest security(not in your place)?
911.

4. If you have kids - any apprehensions about them? Feel free to mention their citizenship and age too.
5. What are you paying for GC (emotionally or otherwise)? What do you anticipate to get after GC?

6. Given a chance, time rolls back to the day, when you landed in USA, would you still go for GC(if experience doesn't rolls back)?
I will start in Europe(not UK by any means).

7. If you want please specify your home country/state/city...
Saare jahan se accha Hindustan hamara.

Just one wish - to see regional unity with all my country's neighbours, money used by all of those nations for collective security of the region and rest of it is used meaningfully for section where it is needed.

Fursat hi nahi hai bhai....bhery bhery busy...time illa...:)

Here are my inputs, skipped a few of course!

1. What is the biggest force that keeps you in USA or seeking GC?
Coz wifey says so ;)

Better lifestyle, cleaner envionment, and of course dough ($$$)!!

2. What do you miss about your home country/state/city/town/village here?
Family! Wish they cud see what we achieved here in such a short span.

What do you think should your place have which is here too?
Opportunities and growth based on merit and performance and not Mandal commission and other reservations. Some states has 80% reservation in the higher education, how can merit survive if they don't emigrate?

3. What is your greatest fear in USA?

Greatest security(not in your place)?
Communal Riots. Untrustworthy cops.

4. If you have kids - any apprehensions about them? Feel free to mention their citizenship and age too.
Does not apply, but worried about the kind of education they will receive here. I somehow believe education system back home is far better.

5. What are you paying for GC (emotionally or otherwise)? What do you anticipate to get after GC?
Over 8K so far :( What will I get after that, not really sure. With all the jobs going abroad and the bad economy here, it remains to be seen how it all works out.

6. Given a chance, time rolls back to the day, when you landed in USA, would you still go for GC(if experience doesn't rolls back)?
I would apply for it on day 1 like some of my colleagues did; be done with and have it in my pocket, rather than apply late. That way at least citizenship will come faster and then with dual citizenship now, it becomes easier to be back and forth than give it all up for good.

7. If you want please specify your home country/state/city...
Never been in one place for long coz of pop's transferable job, so can't really identify myself with any one place, but all in all there's an "Indian" in my heart!

RULE IS: NO ONE IS GOING TO ATTACK ANYONE ELSE'S IDEA. NO CROSS DISCUSSION - EXPRESS WHATEVER YOU FEEL. FEEL FREE TO SUGGEST AND REFRAIN FROM ATTACK PLEASE. ATTACK WILL DEFEAT THE PURPOSE OF THIS THREAD.

a. A freedom to take up any job I fancy.
b. Hopefully a federal scholarship if I take up research work etc
c. Enough money to fully support the folks back in India.

6. Given a chance, time rolls back to the day, when you landed in USA, would you still

go for GC(if experience doesn't rolls back)?

This reminds me of one ad that used to come in TV in Delhi, it goes like this "Helmet pahniye, Sar hai Apka, Kismet Hai Apki". I think Delhi cops are the best when it comes to spreading public awareness, lane discipline etc.

It was

Sar hai Apka, Marzi Hai Apki

Delhi cops are indeed cool and Delhi is cool in all sense except the weather. :D

Like it Patience - apt description of a nice place. I like evenings of Delhi and icecream of Nirula's. Even winter fogs near Yamuna on Delhi/Noida border seemed so good from bus.

Some reality with a tiny bit of humour and fiction.

1. What is the biggest force that keeps you in USA or seeking GC?
Big-hot chicks, easy dates with no commitment, Great Clubs, food and World Peace.

2. What do you miss about your home country/state/city/town/village here?
Smelly Open drains, packed buses and travelling on the foot-board, one hand waving at a girl standing in the bus stop, humid-heat, corrupted cops and no speed limit roads (of course it is strictly limited because of road conditions)

What do you think should your place have which is here too?
Obesity (anti Atkins and anti Carb diet to make young indians fat, the more fatter we are, the super power we become), gun-culture (A gun in every home will control population), a trade on Laloo for Bush (both will not make any sense anyway, atleast Bush will read his speeches in proper English) and of course scantily clad women.

3. What is your greatest fear in USA? Greatest security(not in your place)?
Fears : Fear of getting caught cheating.
Security : Hanging out with girls with none of the relatives or neighbours noticing.

4. If you have kids - any apprehensions about them? Feel free to mention their citizenship and age too.

Do i have kids, may be or may be not. (No body have called in for paternity test yet) But the biggest apprehension would be to receive a call for Jerry Springer show. ;-)

5. What are you paying for GC (emotionally or otherwise)? What do you anticipate to get after GC?
Some shareholders of my ex-company paid for it. May be some one from this board also paid through their capital losses.

6. Given a chance, time rolls back to the day, when you landed in USA, would you still go for GC(if experience doesn't rolls back)?
This is a hard question. If i can travel through time, what would i do ? Apart from all the other silly things i did, I would not have taken my colleague out on a date and girl friend would not have caught me and dumped me. We could have been married happily ever ever after. I would have gotten a GC through marriage. Man iam stupid. But again that is the one of the best things i ever did ;-)

A remote village in South India.

-comfort, wanting to do a job here. I can avoid my hostile MIL and relatives in india.
2. What do you miss about your home country/state/city/town/village here?
-Food, wearing traditional and rich clothes and jewelry, showing off, taking pride in roaming cars, going to beauty parlours frequently, not much shape and weight consciousness, attending marriages and functions, colorful festivals, soul satisfaction, taking pride that this is my country
....

Ananya123,

Not trying to be sexist here, but have seen very few posts from women here, Welcome to the forum.

Girl - 2.5 Citizen (to give her the choice).
