Husband and kids are Canadian and I'm a PR, We have very little ties to Canada as we've been living in my home country for the past few years. We have lots of ties to my country though. We have a house, a business and vehicles in my country. Will that be enough?
No. You need only be a Canadian (or Mexican) citizen. In fact, you don't need any foreign ties to get TN, since this status allows you to live full-time in the US. You merely need to promise to leave when your status is up.
What is "your country"? Depending on the country you might need an actual TD visa obtained at the US consulate in "your country". @nelsona is right that you don't need ties to Canada.
PRs can always get visa in Canada, but, indeed, for practical reasons, it may be best to stay back and get the TD visa in their current country, after the TN has theirs at the border.
Whole other thread.
I'm from Venezuela we are currently in the US and my husband and kids will drive up to the border and get their status and if If have my Travel document by then
(its in process) I'll fly to winnipeg for my TD or fly back to Venezuela for it.
