this guy's citizenship was denied--read this

This means that they do in fact check your immigration history very carefully when you interview you for citizenship. People who think you can use national passport or even worse visit their country of claimed persecution with impunity should think carefully.

What using of NP has to do with anything?? The guy entered USA with F1 VISA and got his GC through that (as far as I understand this has nothing to do with asylum). He never went to school in a first place.

Bottom line: we all know that lie to Immigration is not a good thing to do. That includes travel to home country without a serious reason. From another end I know for sure that 50 to 60% of asylum cases are fake and that a lot of people travel back (I know some of them). Everybody has to think twice before breaking the law. The best thing to do is follow it all the time. Asylees are not exception.

Entering the country the country on a student visa, refusing to enroll in school and marrying a citizen allow the INS to infer fraud on the visa application. Claiming persecution and then going back there (or using anational passport) likewise cause a reasonable mind to suspect fraud in the asylum case. Just do not think you are home free after your are adjusted.

Thank you. When I posted the story of somoene I know who got denied citizenship because of visiting home country...everyone made fun saying I was "scaring people" etc...You all can ignore the fact that going back home can cause citizenship denail but its the truth...

Yeah, going back home even after getting GC is a bad idea. It's just confirms that the whole case is fraud. I confirmed with Immigration Officer that using the NP is not a problem as long as asylee don't travel back and don't renew it unless there was a reason to do so. This subject was discussed extensivelly before. When applying for adjustment USCIS clearly states that asylee has to submit copy of pages with visas in NP or travel document as a proof of absense. http://uscis.gov/graphics/services/refadjust/index.htm

I believed it. It's never late for USCIS to catch a fraudulent case. They probably will start doing so on a regular basis. Check if asylees went back home or renewed passports after GC.

The point is that they will look at your immigration history to see if they have done anything inconsistent with what you told them earlier. For former asylees you can bet that they will check to see if you asylum story was real.
They have deported citizenship applicants in the past for lying on their previous immigration applications. This trend has only escalated since 9/11 and in light the threat still posed by terrorists, it will get even worse.
