Things to update after name change.

I am doing a name change with my Naturalization
Still waiting for OL but want to make a list of things to update after the Oath.

Here are few things that I have, please let me know what else is missing.

1. SSN card
2. Driver License
3. I-9 at work and HR records
4. Bank and Credit cards
5. Home owner in County records
6. Mortgage company, insurances ( update name on the policy)
7. Utility companies
8. Post Office ( maybe not urgent on this one)

Update 3 credit agencies? (optional)

You may want to notify the credit agencies, but it's not necessary. Once you notify your credit cards, they will automatically notify the credit bureaus. I never notified the credit bureaus of my name change and haven't encountered any problems. As far as publishing your name change in a newspaper, don't bother. This is only required if you change your name separately of the naturalization process.

I also had my name change during the process and I'm having my oath ceremony next week.

Besides all on your list. I'm planning to notify

- Mortgage company, insurances ( update name on the policy)
- Utility companies
- Post Office ( maybe not urgent on this one)
