Telephone number for FBI Name Check?

Just got off the phone with USCIS Tier 2 officer. Am VERY annoyed. I've now been told that my name has been stuck in the name check for the past one year. Nothing has been done.

Is there a number that I can call to find out the status of the name check? I know there was a number for FBI Finger Prints, but is there anyway to find out what the deal is with the name check.

I sent a threat letter out to the Orlando DO (USCIS) about me taking Per Se action against the Orlando DO, USCIS, Attorney General, FBI and DHS. They received it on Friday 20th (via FedEx). How long should I give them to a) reply or b) should I even wait for anything to happen now? How long should I give them now...... Will they even respond to the letter I sent them with a 'draft' copy of the Per Se complaint form? Or should I just go ahead and just file the case. I'm so annoyed right now I just don't know what to do. I've don't InfoPass, I've done the phonecalls, I've done Congresswoman, I've done Ombudsman, I don't and refuse to try any other avenue other than court now.

Oct 14th 2008 (filed N-400), Oct 26th 2009 (Done FPs), Awaiting ever since.

I dont get is that why you did FP after 1 year of filing your application. Your FP cleared on the 26th...depending your DO, wait at least till Dec 1 before filing a WOM. What is your DO?

You tried everything except the lawyer route. They can file lawsuit in courts forcing USCIS & FBI to take some action on your case. Assuming that your case is legally eligible for approval, USCIS is denying immigration benefits to you in time, that comes with becoming a citizen. I don't understand why you never explored the lawyer option. Try a very good lawyer. Also, give a copy of this article to the lawyer you will be dealing with

Sending a pro se draft letter to USCIS won't do much as they aren't bound by it. Unfortunately, at this point if you want to see movement on your case you'll have to file the WOM, which can be done without the use of a lawyer.

My DO is Orlando. I don't have $5000 for a lawyer thats the point. I've tried to understand the difference between WOM and Pro Se and just don't understand the difference. I've read the beginning of the 'sticky' at the top of the page, but unfortunately the information there is just too vast. Too many pages and is very easy to get lost in it. Is Pro Se a WOM?

If anyone knows of a good 'economical' lawyer in the Central Florida (or anywhere in Florida) then please do make a recommendation. Or if anyone has a straightforward explanation of how to file a WOM then please do enlighten me.

Pro se literally mean by yourself, meaning you file lawsuit yourself. A WOM is a type of legal suit that forces USCIS to do the work in a timely manner.
Did you read the wiki as well as it details the process step by step.

Ok, for those that may know, I filled my N-400 application on Oct 18th 2008 and had FP done on Oct 26th 2009. I've been told my USCIS so far that my 'name check' was not complete (up until today). I had kind of given up on it all when today I decided to take an infopass appointment and pay the Orlando DO a visit. I went there and saw an IO. He told me that all of my paperwork was now with the Orlando DO and that they'll be sending me out a letter for an interview shortly (within a month or so). I asked him what date was this entered in their computer. He said January 25th 2010. So, am I right to assume that my background check and name check is done and that after a successful interview I'm almost home free (pending Oath)?? Is this how the process works. I mean, all the paperwork from whatever national offices end up at the DO in the end and then they do the interview and then offer an Oath date? I hope so. I've been stuck in 'background and name checks' since I filed my paperwork. It's been almost 1.5 years since I filed and am still waiting for interview.

Todays dialogue with the IO seemed to be the most constructive (in terms of progression) that I've had since my FPs in October 2008. Fingers crossed now that the interview happens quickly and that the Oath shortly after.

Seems positive, but couple of points:
#1. So they have had the file with them for 1 month, and need another month for the interview !!
#2. If the IO said he has all of your paperwork, I presume he has it, and it should be moving along soon.

That's what I thought. They've had the file since 25th Jan 2010. Today (Feb 25th 2010) they've told me that they'll be sending me an interview invite 'shortly'. That seemed kinda weird to me too. Anyone been in a similar situation? Any suggestions to what next? Done all the written to congressman, written to FBI, DHS etc, etc.......

Now may be a good time to send them a 'Draft' copy of the WOM complaint. Also, what does your online case status say?

Since you have waited so long, I would say wait another 2-3 weeks before you escalate. I feel that once the file gets out of regular processing cycle, it is likely for such things to happen since A) there are not their performance metrics based on these files, and B) the normal workflow be working on your file. The IO might have triggered the interview while sitting with you ... but he would not say that to you.

Sounds like you're in queue for interview. Give it at least until the end of March for you to receive an interview letter. Hang in there, your wait it almost over.

Yeah, having waited so long, I think I'm going to give them until the end of March. Well, I'm hoping that it comes after march. Me and the Mrs are having a baby (back in the UK) so don't want to be disturbed for that. Really wanted to have the baby in the US, but because of this wait I couldn't get my Mrs here in time - oh well, that's just another story. Sorry I diverge.

I hope I'm in queue for an interview. Anyway, my online status hasn't changed at all ever since I sent my application in (Oct 2008) it has been stuck on "Initial Review". It didn't change when I got the FP request or anything. Is this normal? Also, should I expect to see this change when they actually trigger an invite for an interview or will this thing always stay on 'initial review' until after the interview?

Thanks to all that give more information/points of view. It seems that if it wasn't for this forum, I'd have no outlet, not place to voice my opinions/concerns.

The online status is unreliable. Sometimes it changes when there is activity on your case, but other times it doesn't. I wouldn't pay too much attention to it. What's important is to keep inquiring about your case with an IO to determine if an interview date has been scheduled yet.

This is annoying now. I just called the USCIS and they escalated my inquiry to an IO. She just said that my case is 'pending'. As I know I've been told that I'm stuck in 'background checks' I asked her if I am. She was so arrogent and unhelpful that she just kept repeating 'Sir, it's telling me that your case is still pending'. I know that - and that's why I'm calling you!!!!!!! I just wanted to confirm that the story I was given yesterday and the story that they're showing on their computers match up. I has happened in the past that the USCIS have sent me mail and I haven't received it. I just wanted to confirm that nothing of that sort has happened and that I haven't 'missed' an interview date. She just kept telling me that my case is pending and that is about as much information that she has.... So why is it that in the past they've been able to tell me that I've been stuck in background checks? Was this IO just being lazy? Should I call again to see if I can get someone else, or shall I just let it go. I mean it's been 1.5 years, should I care about how slow and inefficient the system is for some?

Call later this afternoon again..you'll reach an IO at a different location. I found that in the morning the IOs are either in Georgia or Texas and gave conflicting information, whereas when I called later in afternoon they were in California and gave more consistent info.

Just made another call and didn't speak to an IO, but to a Customer Service Rep. She has raised another inquiry. She said that she's still showing 3rd party background checks pending. Errrrr.... Who am I supposed to believe at this point? She' raised an inquiry and said I should get a letter within 45 days. I've had these letters before. They just state that they can't move with the case until the background checks are complete. I know, as I've gotten many of these. So, should I take what the IO at the Orlando DO said for gospel? I mean, who'd know more at this point? The people on the phone or people at the Orlando DO? It seams that the right hand isn't talking to the left hand. Typical government operation, regardless of where in the world you are.

Are you insinuating something against Georgia or Texas?

Even in my case same thing happenened 01/08/2010 RFE said a mail has been sent and i did not not receive any mail. Initially they said i have to wait for 30 days. On 02/08/10 i called again .They gave a SR(service request ) number and wait for 45 days. But to day got email said you are in for standard interview and date will be notified.

I suggest please wait for 2-3 weeks and i am hopeful you would get IL
