Tax transcript

I have requested copies of tax transcripts from IRS. Since I filed "Married filing joint", the returns are the same for me and my wife

Question is - should she also request another set of transcripts, or can copies of mine work for her as well?

The transcripts I received from the IRS were printed on regular 8.5x11 paper, nothing special. I made copies for my wife and you could not tell the original and copies apart.

Should everyone get transcripts ready while waiting for eligbility to come?

Or it is good enough if one have kept copied of all 1040 forms and all other
forms filed?

While waiting for my IL, I requested transcripts for the 5 years prior to my application. The IO didn't even want to see them, explaining that they are normally only concerned with tax returns for self-employed applicants. However, since I offered them, he added them to my file.

I'm sure that the forms would be sufficient, but it doesn't hurt to get official transcripts. They are free and only take a few days to arrive. What have you got to lose?

What is the form to request transcripts? When copies arrive, are they certified or just plain photocopies?

Hi
I called last week and got in 4 working days for three years. You can order others by fax or by mail filing 4506 T forms.
Most of the time, they moy not ask about tax transcript. Please go what you have with you at that time.

Why do we care about tax transcripts, is it require for the interview? What other documents are required?

Tax transcripts are asked for when your continuous residency comes into question or when you must prove that you have lived together with your US spouse (if filing based on 3 years). Also, they can be asked for if you answered YES to the question about having failed to file taxes in the past, or if you owe the IRS money.
