Tax for dependents not in the US

no, I am still useing the one I got three years ago for my wife, till she gets here and see what we should do.
I guess, when she gets here, she will use her SSN.

First, congratulations on getting your IL! I read it on the other thread.

Did you have to submit a tax return along with W-7, when you first applied for her ITIN?

Thanks.

Parents are not dependents

I think your spouse and children can be classified as dependents and not the parents (here or back home).

Even I have the same problems... My wife and parents are backhome and have been supporting them. I don't think we can only do once they have a social security number. Not sure though... let's see if someone gives us any suggestion. Thanks for putting this up... will help me too. So what stage are you in N400?

Citizenship interview; wondering about spouse's ITIN number

Yes I did, and I filed jointly

hello Nimche,

I have been filing tax married jointly for 4 years with my wife's ITIN number like you do (as you said). Since you already got your citizenship, did IO ask you about this issue during your interview? My interview will be on 19th and I am wondering about it.
thank you for your response.

Please take a look at the below link from IRS website. Consult a tax professional if you have questions.

Why would the IO ask questions about your tax return if you are not applying on the basis of marriage to USC? Of course the IO has reserves the right to verify your tax returns, but my understanding is they seldom do if you have employement-based GC and not self-employed. Gurus in the forum can clarify.
