Tattoos as evidence?

So my wife and I are just in the beginning stages of applying for her GC right now. As I said yesterday, the checks have not even been cleared yet, but I hope that will happen soon.

Although it will be months until our interview, my wife and I are trying to get our documents in order ahead of time, and we are counting how many different ways we can prove that we have a genuine marriage right now. I've seen the list of all the standard documents people use, but there is one thing which I have not seen documented - tattoos. We have matching tattoos with each other's names, and I was wondering whether this would be beneficial to our case, or if we should just keep them covered up when it comes time for the interview. I guess I am asking if the IO just uses a standard checklist of documents (joint accounts, bills, etc.), or if "miscellaneous" items of proof such as this one can be taken into consideration.

Anyway, I don't need an urgent reply. I'm just curious and we want to be well-prepared. :)

That's the first time I seen that question posted around here... but, oh well. I guess you could consider it "evidence"... not much evidence unless you have her full name, DOB, non immigrant visa number and alien number tattoo-ed though. So go and get those. ;)

If forensic can tell the age of tattoo then it might be.............:D

Well I have her name on my arm, but I have her visa number tattooed somewhere else... ;)

No, just kidding. I'm not suggesting the tattoo would be admissable as an alternative to a legal document, but surely it holds some weight as a symbol of commitment. It would be an extreme coincidence if we both just happened to have tattoos of each other's names for no particular reason. It's obvious to an observer that we got the tattoos for the sake of our relationship, and not just because we felt like tattooing random names on our bodies.

Financial Documents and Joint Ownership will always carry the most weight. As well as having children together. Consider Tattoos as the "third" kind of evidence you should produce.

Well, there are no children, and we don't have a whole lot of joint assets. We have a joint bank account and a joint phone plan, but not much else. That's why we're fishing for other ideas. I have a car title in my name - would it be possible to have the title changed to include both myself and my wife? As for the "third" kind of evidence, we have photos and little things like that, we have engraved rings, and like I said, the tattoos.

I remember Anjolina Jolie had Billy Bob's name tatooed somewhere but made it into a flower after the divorce. It's doable...

Well, even if it's possible to get a tattoo removed or altered, getting it in the first place is still a big commitment.

Maybe the best evidence is to show how you paid for the Tatoo Jointly using your joint debit card, that is attached to your joint checking account :)

I'm no tattoo expert (I'm sure the IO isn't either), but perhaps you might have a problem proving that it's a permanent tattoo and not something painted on? Since the IO is a human, even in the event that they can't count it officially as evidence, I'm sure it'll be something interesting for them to see that they don't see as evidence every day!

For your citizenship interview, do you plan to get a tattoo of the Constitution of the United States? :p

Well, I already had my citizenship interview and I didn't need any tattoos for that. It sounds like the interviewers generally go easy on people unless they suspect foul play.

As long as you both are comfortable showing them and the officer viewing them, it should be fine. :)

We have matching tattoos with each other's names, and I was wondering whether this would be beneficial to our case, or if we should just keep them covered up when it comes time for the interview.
