Obviously, the officer made a mistake.
 
The Swiss will let us in w.o visa only if you have a GC....and no, they never produced a large number of refugees but Germany and Hungary did. Germany after WW2 and Hungary after the 1956 revolution...and those two let us in w/o a GC...
 
Hehe, true, but that probably doesn't have to do with the refugee issue. Who knows what's behind the weird world of diplomacy.
 
I am planning to go to Switz and possibly Munich. So I am thinking of applying for RTD. Hopefully, no visa is required since I have GC. Don't want to risk applying for RP. RTD seems to make more sense given that both Germany and Switz. allow you to go in visa-less if you have GC.

Also, what is the wait time for RTD now? 6 months? more? How come the backlog got worse? It was only 3 months at one point, right?

6 months? try 9-10 months. I am waiting to get my RP from February. I think it's a good idea to get RTD. You won't need visa either to Switzerland or Germany.
 
Actually, if you have a green card and no RTD or RP, you still do not need a visa to go to Switzerland. Just a green card is enough.
