I have a valid H1b visa stamped till Dec 2012 for a company X. Did a h1 transfer to company Y and worked with company Y for a couple of months(h1 transfer made the new visa valid till Jun 2014).
Can I resign in company Y and switch back to company X (visa still valid till Dec 2012) ?
Do I need to do H1 transfer to company X (even though the company X visa is still valid) ?

----- Did you ask company X if they Revoked your H1 by writing to USCIS when you went to join Y?

-------Visa is Stamp in Passport and that is for entry to US. if the X has not revoked your H1 or the H1 petition by writing to USCIS then you can join X. Talk to X and X lawyer.

you should talk to X or lawyer of X for full info of your case.

I have cross checked with the employer X and they have not revoked my H1b and they are happy to get me back on their payroll.
I agree with your point that the visa stamped on the Passport is required for entering the country.
FYI, I know for sure that the Employer Y will revoke my H1 after my resignation as a company policy.

Is there any form that we need to fill-in and send it to USCIS to intimate them that I am now going to work for Employer X instead of Employer Y.

------If X has not revoked your H1 Petition by sending letter to USCIS to revoke your H1 then you CAN join X. Nothing wrong if you check with Lawyer of X.

------- I dont think that matter to you if you have H1 of X and start working with X.

------ you dont need to file any form. if need any info then check with X lawyer before you join and let him know that the day you join X the lawyer of Y will send letter to revoke your H1 petition..
