We have obtained our permanent residency cards back in Nov 2006.But when we had last entered the country (3 yrs back), our status was H1-B(mine) and H-4(my wife's). So we had I-94s issued to us on our last entry into the US which are now stapled to our passports.
We are now planning to drive to canada. I understand that only a valid passport and Green card is required. At the border, when we are entering Canada, do we need to surrender our old I-94 at the US port of exit?. Should we even carry the I-94 that we have right now in our passports or should we just remove it from our passports?.Can someone wh has been thorugh this please clarify?.

Thanks

Hi ginnu,

Thanks for your response. Can you tell me if we even need to surrender our I-94 when we are coming back into the US?.Since we are permanent rsidents now, the I-94 has no meaning right?.So shouldnt we be able to reenter by just showing our GC and passport and not worry about the I-94??.

The I-94 has no meaning now, but it doesn't hurt to give it back when you re-enter. Why wouldn't you?
