Hey to you all out there. Just a question:Does anyone know of scholarships or other study opportunities available to asylees? i am thinking of going to school for September, 2009

What's FAFSA? Is it like a loan? Does it cover for grad school too or only undergraduate?

It's a grant + loan... some will get good grant "free $$$" and still need loan too in same time

I know an asylee student got 3000$ grant + 3000$ loan for 1 semester

loans are sub and unsub.

I guess it's for both grad and undergrad

Ok. So say, I wanted to go to a college that has an original cost of 30,000 ( including room and board ).

What's the maximum possible amount that I could get as a grant?

Is that 30,000 / semester? FAFSA deals with semesters

but here is what I know, the sooner you apply, the more grants you get.
and they also take your income in considerations. in addition to the college you are applying to

I graduate in May so I'm thinking about FAFSA for grad school.

I'm still contemplating on going to Grad School this fall or Fall of 2010 and FAFSA clearly will help me solve this equation, I believe.

FAFSA grants are only available for undergraduate study. For grad school they only have loans.

Also since you are now an asylee you can get FAFSA grants and loans for this school year. Look into this asap.

You mean. I might actually qualify for FAFSA for this semester? ( final semester )?

rectify me if I am wrong !
this is what i believe: you can apply for grant(FAFSA) one year after you get your status. And you get grant for grad program too. I got grant for grad program at SF State.
