Very Confused...
I am not sure if this is a correct place for this post. Today I received a letter from VSC which confused the hell out of me. I'll give a brief sequence of recent event before I describe the letter.
* Sometime in March 2006 I made an inquiry with VSC on my status.
* Later I found out that they responded by mail on March 28, 2006
(I have never received that mail)
* I made additional inquiries and involved senators on my case just to follow up on the original inquiry. Later I was lucky to speak with an officer who told me that the content of that original letter stated that I am in the Name Check, which was also recently confirmed by Sntr. Schumer's office.
To day I receive a letter from VSC that says this:
Your Permanent Resident Card was mailed on March 28, 2006 and has not been returned to this office. You will need to file an application to replace Alien Registration Card (Form I-90), along with the proper fee using the reason for filing as:
"I am a Permanent Resident or Conditional Permanent Resident and my card was lost, stolen or destroyed"
...If you are in need of temporary evidence of your lawful permanent resident status, you will need to schedule an appointment using the InfoPass...
So on the one hand, my online status says "the results of your fingerprints were received on September 24, 2004 and the processing was resumed on your case...", my LUD is still 9/27/2004, I hear from different sources that I am in the Name Check and that's what the May 28'th mail was about. On the other hand, I just got a letter, first in two years, that says that the May 28'th mail was my green card. I mean isn't this what a Permanent Resident Card is - a green card? They screwed up somewhere. What's the meaning of this? Should I really file I-90 and send them $190? What's up?
