Hello:

I accessed USCIS web page and found that my I-485 has been approved (got emails too). However, my I-140 did not show any change (never got any emails).

I called USCIS and asked for their comments on this situation. They said that my I-140 was approved couple of months back and asked me to check back with my employer. They also said that it is impossible for the I-485 to get approved before I-140. My employer has not received any I-140 approval.

The USCIS person asked me to file a form to get duplicate I-140. It sounded like A2 form but I am not sure.

Has my case been approved from the above description? If you know the form I need to file to get duplicate I-140 could you indly share it with me.

Your comments/suggestion will be very useful.

Thanks

Some people had samilar experience. If you want you can ask FOIA in whcih you will get I-140 approval notice also.

Thank You Rdip and Tammy 2

Rdip and Tammy2:

Thank you very much for your response.

>Some people had samilar experience. If you want you can ask FOIA in whcih >you will get I-140 approval notice also.

Could you please tell me what is FOIA?
Will they let me complete formalities without my I-140 approval.
The lady I talked to USCIS asked whether my FP was done. I said. She took some time and said that I should be receiving the cards in 45-60 days.
The lady also said I need to file some form if I wanted a copy. It sounded like (A2) but I searched the net the whole day and was unabel to find any form.

One of my friends (who already got his GC) said that there is no concept of mailing cards and insisited taht I fix an infopass appointment and get my passport stamped. I am a bit confused. Till this stage its been quite a tensed up situation with possible lay off scares.

Any comments will be quite useful.

Thanks again

-------------------------No need to get I-140 approval if I-485 is approved
Could you please tell me what is FOIA?
-------------------------------Freedom of Information act
Will they let me complete formalities without my I-140 approval.
----------- YES, once you get I-485 approval take infopass with local USCIS to get your passport stamp ( take 2 passport style photographs with you). you dont need I-140 approval

--------------- you dont need I-140 approval notice it may have gone to lawyer who filed I-140.

-------------- That is correct info from your friend, but I have seen few cases who got card directly.
I am a bit confused. Till this stage its been quite a tensed up situation with possible lay off scares.
------------ Relax!!! one you get I-485 approval, go to Local USCIS office
Any comments will be quite useful.

Thanks again
