All of you guys who were worried about Sonia becoming PM - screw yourselves.

Frogs in a well.

Is that all you have to say in support of Sonia?
If there is some solid reason you think Sonia should become PM of India, put it in your append.
Or do some reaseach and decide what is best. Read through some appends carefully here and follow the links to get some more knowledge on the issue.
Otherwise, maybe you can try to be in Chamcha group of Sonia and try some theaterics in front of her house :D

Psuedo secularism uncontrollable from now on:

========
Excerpt from one of Mr Gurumurthy's articles: (http://www.gurumurthy.net/display.asp?id=111)

There is a manuscript called the ‘Babarnama’ written by Babar’s own courtiers and there are references in it to Babar’s hostility towards Hindus and how he has had several Hindu temples destroyed. Now the same secular brigade is questioning the authenticity of the Babarnama and has pronounced the manuscript to be phony, and that it is a forgery. The same argument again. There are authentic historical documents from the court of Aurangazeb too. Aurangazeb says, in this month of Ramadan, there are three places of worship very dear to the Hindus – kashi, mathura and Ayodhya. Ayodhya has been taken care of. Destroy the other two, are the written orders of Aurangazeb and it is recorded. Its authenticity cannot be questioned by the secularists and they haven’t questioned it so far. Do you all know how the destruction of these two holy shrines took place?

In Mathura they broke the murti of Bhagawan Krishna into pieces, slaughtered forty cows, and mixed up the flesh of the slaughtered cows with the pieces of the broken idol of Krishna and put into sacks. Two sacks of this act of religious bigotry and violence was sent to Mecca, two sacks sent to Baghdad and some pieces of the broken idol and the flesh of the cows was strewn in the Jamma Masjid for the Muslim faithful to step on and urinate upon. This is how Hindu Gods were dealt with by more than one Muslim invader king. What is it that the Hindus want? Not revenge, but the return of those sites so that the temples can be rebuilt on the site again. There are huge mosques in Varanasi and mathura, on the exact spot where our temples had stood. The Muslims and the seculars want proof in Ayodhya. There is irrefutable proof, existing proof, historical proof for Kasi and Mathura. So why don’t they give us back those sites?

=======

I can't imagine of any other community to live in harmony with the symbols of humiliation. It is the greatness of the people of the land.

Now with such irrefutable evidence, will the so called text book rewriters (read the secularists) dare to put this information in the History text books ? When people like Joshi tried to correct the mistakes let alone putting the actual history, he is branded as communalist and there was a huge cry that the education is being saffronized. They claim that if the atrocities committed upon Hindus were detailed in the text books, it doesn't do good for the communal harmony. Bull, one should read history as history.

Also read: by Rajeev Srinivasan on the comrades efforts to hide the facts.

Indians will no longer be impressed by Marxist histrionics (especially the table incorrect and correct)
http://us.rediff.com/news/2002/jan/04rajeev.htm

Why am I emphasizing so much on the text books being manipulated ? The initial years of study develops the identity of a child, the pride about himself and his country. When this is screwed at the early stage, you effectively wipe out everything.

There is a saying "Even God can't change the history, but the historians can"

Now i know why one of my friends hates RSS so much. He has done some post graduate degree in JNU  . Also, i didn't know for sure that Romila Thapar is a communist (now i am sure), though i have read about it. Nehru has done a mistake by encouraging all these red dogs (leftists) and suppressing RSS. Immigrant hypocrites!

All those on this board who dont want Sonia to become PM are hypocrites.

You are all lining up for all benefits in another country yet and cry foul when things are not in your favor but then you are trying to stop an immigrant in your own country from advancing further!

This is called Racism... Xenophobia and Hypocrisy!

Unlike the USA let us not treat our naturalized citizens like a second-class citizen and give them EQUAL rights!

We're lining up for all benefits in legal ways and we also contribute to this country in several ways. Not by exploiting the power and by amendments to naturalization laws of the land just for one person. Please read the history behind the constituitional amendment made in 1987 by Rajiv (then PM) and the way the citizenship was offered to Ms Sonia in 1983. Can you list the credentials and contributions made by the Ms Sonia to India ? (but for the fact that she was the daughter-in-law of a particular family )

And do you think there will be an amendment to the US constituition to allow persons who're not citizens by birth running for presidential elections ? Not in a million years.

Before elections she never said that she would be the PM if the govt could be formed by the alliance, fearing that allies would distance themseleves away. And when there was a fractured mandate and there was an unexpected opportunity she wanted to cease it and when there was a greater unexpected opposition and movements against, she had to yield. ( And the so called secularist media celebrates this as a sacrifice of the century )This is what is called hypocrisy and mockery of democracy.

What 'Racism' are you talking about ? None of us are asking a right to allow us to become presidents of this country. Why do we want to be ? Is becoming President the only way of serving a country ? Do you think that any of us think that we are such great aliens, this Americans can't find any one better than us among the 300 million natural americans ? Same argument applies to india and the immigrants in india. Why do we want an Italian to lead the country ? We have security fears. It's easy to type 4 or 5 lines here saying 'it is OK to make any one as PM as long as they are indians'. Your typing does not mean anything in reality. It is a common sense that you need to be careful about uncertain things. If some pakistani marries an indian today and gets indian citizenship after 5 years, will you accept him as the PM of india if the shameless , principle less and leader less congress morons elect that pakistani indian as their leader ? What great service did your Sonia has done to our country ? What leadership has she shown on the floor of the parliament ? What political experience she brings with her ? Vajpayee brought with him five decades of experience as a parliamentarian. That's why we had 6 wonderful years from 1998 to 2004. The Prime Misnister decides the fate of the country, and i don't understand what is that you see in Sonia that we all fail to see.
I have repeatedly said this before, but let me tell this one last time : Don't equate your desire to become a citizen of this country to that of an immigrant's desire to become Prime Minister of india. Nobody objected to Sonia becoming an indian citizen or becoming an MP. We just want the top job to be protected against people whose loyalty to india is not 100%. She had the chance to apply for indian citizenship in 1968 itself, but she did it only in 1983. Her whole family is in Italy (Yes, they are all ITALIANS). Do you understand our hypocricy now ?

Mumbai, May 28: Rahul Gandhi owns 83% in a little known Mumbai-based engineering company, Backops Services.

However, even though the affidavit filed by Gandhi with his nomination papers for the Amethi Lok Sabha seat reads that he owns 83 per cent stake in ‘Backops Services’, the fourth floor office of the firm at Puran Nivas on Arthur Bunder Road, Colaba, displays the name ‘Backops Engineering’.

The company has an official website — back-ops.com, which contains the bare minimum information about the company’s job and lists a mobile number, 35452225, to contact the company. The phone was switched off today.

Housed near the Taj Mahal Hotel, adjacent to the Radio Club, the Mumbai office of Backops employs about 10 people. Nobody knows who the “boss” is here.

When Business Standard visited the building in the evening, the office was locked and no employee was seen. The 50-year-old building also houses a foreign exchange dealer, a firm of architects, an export house and a dental clinic.

Employees of some of these companies, under condition of anonymity, said they have often seen Gandhi here. “He was seen last about six months back. Normally he comes here every three to four months. Milind Deora (son of Murli Deora and a Congress MP) also comes here accompanying him,” one of them said.

“Gandhi stays at the Taj Mahal Hotel whenever he comes to this office. Often, he is accompanied by foreign friends. Those days, lunch for the office comes from the five-star hotel,” pointed out another.

An afternoon paper in Mumbai today reported that the company was involved in the construction of the international airport building in Mumbai, the Belapur railway station in Navi Mumbai, a container freight station for Maersk Sealand, a commercial complex at Phoenix Mills at Lower Parel in Mumbai, the Wockhardt headquarters and the Wockhardt Hospital at Mulund in Mumbai, the IPCL township at Nagothane in Maharashtra, among others. Wockhardt officials have denied any involvement with the company.

A Mumbai-based leading civil engineering firm said it has no knowledge of Backops’ existence. “If such big projects were done in this city, some part of the work should have been sub-contracted. But no such thing has happend,” senior executives of the firm pointed out.

I am posting this editorial for those who opposed sonia to be PM

Between us: India’s first citizen
Pankaj Vohra
May 23

The political developments over the last week have catapulted Sonia Gandhi to a position which has few parallels in history. By declining to be prime minister of the largest democracy in the world, the Congress president demonstrated that politics was not about attaining posts but about serving people. She also showed to the world what a true Indian was capable of doing and that renunciation of power or worldly comforts was a way of life for those who truly believed in our country’s ancient values and culture.

In fact, in one single action, she put to rest for all times the issue of her foreign origin. She showed that she was more Indian than any of us. None of our so-called top leaders could have shunned power the way she did. It was not for nothing that comparisons were made between her and Mahatma Gandhi by several speakers at the CPP meeting, where she announced her decision to decline the PM’s post.

Sonia Gandhi may not be Mahatma Gandhi but her renunciation of power has brought her closest to what the Father of our Nation preached when he led, first the Congress and then the rest of the country, without occupying any formal position. A section of the media made attempts to belittle her sacrifice by suggesting that she had given up her stake for prime ministership out of fear that a scrutiny of certain aspects of her citizenship status could land her in trouble. Simultaneously, a section of the RSS leadership was also (mis)informed that she held dual citizenship to ensure that her decision did not get any kind of political legitimacy. Nothing could have been further from the truth and this technique adopted by those who were beaten squarely and fairly showed the scant respect they held for Indian democracy or its values.

Sonia has upheld her principles above the temptation for power and she has ensured that communal forces led by narrow-minded, anachronistic and bigoted people have been put in their place. She has also ensured that the Congress, nurtured by three generations of Nehru-Gandhis before her, returned to the centrestage of Indian politics so that secular values could be upheld and the interests of the poor, downtrodden and weaker sections of society could be served. India cannot shine without emancipation and the uplift of the weaker sections and the NDA suffered essentially because it turned its face from real India to cosmetic India.

While there is no doubt that Sonia has acted selflessly, it is also true that her action has put several of her political opponents on the mat. For instance, the Akalis constantly raised the 1984 anti-Sikh riots issue to down the Congress in many battles in Punjab. However, by choosing a Sikh as prime minister, Sonia has flummoxed the Akalis. They may have won the battle in Punjab this time but evidently, they have lost the war.

Every staunch Sikh now knows that only the Congress has recognised Sikhs in political terms. It offered the post of speaker of the Lok Sabha to Sikhs twice (Hukam Singh and G.S. Dhillon). It appointed a Sikh as defence minister and external affairs minister (Swaran Singh), made a Sikh the home minister (Zail Singh and later Buta Singh) and also the president of India (Zail Singh). And now, Sonia has made Manmohan Singh, one of the most renowned economists of this era, PM.

The Akalis, though they were in power at the Centre twice, could not persuade the BJP, its main ally, to do anything of this nature for the Sikhs. The Sikh community views Manmohan Singh’s appointment as a great honour. And it is not the Sikhs alone but the entire country which has great expectations from him.

Another political consequence of Sonia’s decision is that the Left, especially Harkishan Singh Surjeet who was pleading the case of the SP and the RLD more than that of his own party, have been checkmated effectively. They tried to dictate terms by announcing their unwillingness to join the government.

In fact, Manmohan Singh’s appointment may not have made the Left very happy, notwithstanding the brave face they are trying to project, but has put them in a situation where they have no option but to endorse his choice. The Left parties may shout or protest at some of the policies which may be announced by the new government but they cannot, under any circumstances, vote against the Congress-led government at the Centre. For, a vote against the Congress government would imply that they vote along with the BJP. They cannot do this at this juncture because the mandate is heavily in favour of secular forces and against communal forces.

Election 2004 has indeed been Sonia Gandhi’s election. From a point where no one gave her half a chance, she not only turned things around but gave the BJP its worst defeat in recent times. By giving up prime ministership, she has emerged as the tallest leader in this country. Between us.

Imbalanced media and the loony Left
http://us.rediff.com/news/2004/may/28ariban.htm

In the entire article Mr Vohra presented only one fact - which is very weak - appointment of Sikhs in prominent posts, most of them happened before assassination which is one, also appointing one here and one there doesn't mean they did a great service to the Sikh community and even these have been overshadowed by appointing Mr Tytler as a minister now.

Then the comparison with Mahatma is absolutely ridiculous. Just wanted to remind you if you're not aware of already, Mahatma wanted to scrap Congress and asked the congress members to work for the nation without any aspirations towards being in power. Did it ever happen ?

Now on the alleged sacrifice:
- Was there an election among the sitting MPs for choosing the PM ? It was imposed. Monmohan is a better loyalist than all the other loyallists :)
- Most of the portfolios were not decided by Mr Singh. It's all happening from the kitchen cabinet
- Do you think Manmohan will have a free hand in running the Govt ? You can only dream of.

Smart_guy007,
People in this forum are not uneducated fools to believe that Sonia sacrificed the PM post. That sacrifice story is for illeterates and chamcha congress men.
She very much wanted to be a PM. She went to the President with claim for PM post in 1998 and she has done it again. Last time (1998) she couldn't produce enough numbers to the president, courtesy Mulayam Singh yadav's reluctance to support a 'Foreigner' and this time, her failure to become PM has something to do with what transpired between the president and this Foreigner. Another possibility (which could be the most likely one) is that it is decided before the formation of alliance that Sonia will not be the PM if the alliance wins. Sonia's election as congress parlamentary party leader, her going to President etc could be a drama to make it look like she is almost all set to become the PM but sacrificed it. For those fools who want to believe that Sonya :D did a sacrifice, i would like to ask for whom did she do this sacrifice ? Sacrifice means giving up something for the benefit of others. Whom she is saying that she is benefitting by sacrificing the PM post ?
When congress party elected her as the parliamentary, why didn't she reject then and there and ask the party to elect some one else as the parliamentary floor leader ? These questions were never answered. It is a shame that some people are worshipping a person who has played a big drama. Yea, i read a news article that some congress chamcha fellows in Maharashtra are planning to build a temple for goddess Sonia.

You ARE a Xenophoic hypocrite! If you are so INDIAN why the heck dont you go back and serve your country? You hate Sonia because she wasnt born in India!! Not because she did anything egregious! On the other hand Adavani has incited religious violence!

If you don't have any objection to a Pakistani becoming PM of india, then it tells me who you are. BTW, your friend Modi :D is also elected by people. So don't blame him  if you don't want us to blame Sonia just because her party won more seats.

I don't hate Sonia, i only don't want an Italian PM for india. One more thing: Don't tell lies. Advani has not incited people. You hate BJP men just because BJP has taken up hindu causes in the past. From your earlier postings in some other threads, it is quite obvious to me that you are not a hindu.

This is a classic tactic of dilution of facts you're resorting to. Only people who run out of all their weapons resort to such tactic.

Taking care of the family is in itself a contribution to the society, bringing up the children to be responsible human beings, so don't try to demean the home makers.

Being just wife or bringing their parents is totally a different issue. Even that doesn't mean they should not be allowed for benefits. It is upto the contributor to decide whether to file for such spouses or not. If he thinks it is not worth sponsoring, he has no reason to live with that wife. He would rather file for a divorce first.

I didn't want to answer such senseless arguments, but I could not resist myself. Also I don't see any of the home makers exploiting the power or liaison with the home country's spies. All these are possible only in India and when the dynasty is in power. If such thing were to take place here, the person would have been stamped "TRAITOR"

Sonia can call for Govt files: Law Minister

Dual power centers - Cabinet in the kitchen or Kitchen in the cabinet

Law minister doesn't seem to know the law, what a pity. Sonia has not taken the oath of secrecy, how is it possible for her to access any file ? Just cabinet rank is not sufficient.

And where is our Mr Clean PM ? busy cleaning up the taint of his ministers ? And what happened to the high drama of renunciation ?? This is as good as being a PM without any accountability.

Note the word Bible of Governance, can't they use some other Indian term for this ? :). Isn't this communalism ? Isn't this getting religion into politics? Talking about anything other than Hindu is welcome.

Sonia can call for Govt files: Law Minister - Indian Express

PM to his Cabinet: let’s implement CMP without ‘undue financial drain’

ANITA SALUJA & NAVIKA KUMAR

NEW DELHI, JUNE 8: Union Law Minister H R Bharadwaj today said that Congress president Sonia Gandhi can call for any Government file because, as UPA chairperson, she has been accorded Cabinet rank status.

The Law Minister told The Indian Express that the real purpose of conferring her with Cabinet rank status was to ensure no one objects to her accessing files.

As UPA chairperson, Sonia was responsible for coordinating with allies and ensuring implementation of the CMP, Bharadwaj said.

‘‘If the Left parties or any of the allies are dissatisfied over implementation of the CMP, she can ask for files relating to that particular Ministry,’’ he said.

The Law Minister maintained that there were no two power centres. While Manmohan Singh would run the Government, he said Sonia Gandhi would discharge the overall responsibility of running the coalition as UPA chairperson.

‘‘It is she who brought the party to power and is the only unifying force in the party,’’ he said.

Bharadwaj’s remarks came on the day all Cabinet ministers received letters from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, urging his colleagues to follow the National Common Minimum Programme (NCMP) as the Bible for governance.

‘‘This will be the bedrock of the agenda for the government... the highest priority would need to be assigned to the formulation of programmes and schemes in accordance with the NCMP and to their implementation,’’ the PM wrote.

‘‘We have to work in a realistic manner as a team... I will need your support and guidance in the Cabinet to ensure that essential objectives of the NCMP are fulfilled...’’.

In a separate letter to all his Cabinet colleagues, the PM asked them to formally call on Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee and Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat.

He has asked ministers to identify ‘‘core areas’’ in the NCMP relating to each ministry and to submit a report on how each ministry would like to execute its plans.

Singh has also directed ministries to evaluate the availability of financial resources, which would help implement the NCMP. The letter carries a note of caution — ‘‘fulfilling of objectives of the NCMP will have to be done without leading to undue financial drain on our resources.’’

Asking each ministry to frame an institutional set-up for ‘‘strict monitoring’’ of the programme, Singh noted: ‘‘Every effort needs to be made to fulfill the promises embedded in NCMP in a timebound, transparent and sincere manner.’’
