Stay over 6 months outside US

Hi
I stayed outside of US for 7 months. I travelled after 1 year of getting my green card. Since then i have been here. What might be a valid justification. Now i am eligible to apply. Anyhelp in this regard is appreciated.
YOu ask what might be a valid justification? Meaning? You just say the reason why you were outside, right? You must have gone on family responsibilities? I am not familiar with the continuous residency clause, but after being away for 7 months, how many years you completed staying in US?

As desihai noted, its impossible for us to justify why you spent time outside the US!
Commonly used justifications relate to overseas study, caring for sick relatives or similar situations. Anything involving foreign employment or something open-ended usually results in a denial.
Your main focus should be on proving you kept strong ties to the US while you were away. e.g. immediate family members stayed behind (in the US), you kept up payments for mortgage/lease of your primary residence, ...

Are you confused on whether you have to provide justification of your extended trip in order to apply for naturalization or how that extended trip affects your ability to apply for naturalization? In order to prove to USCIS that you did not intend to break your continuous residence requirement for a trip lasting more than 6 months but less than 1 year, you must provide evidence such as tax records, having immediate family members remain in the United States, owning property in the United States, operating a business in the United States, and/or providing evidence of a temporary assignment from a United States corporation to a foreign office.

Well putting it simply it will be now up to you to prove to the IO that you didn't break your continuous residency. 6 months or less they would have to prove that you did break it, but after 6 months, its now on you to prove to them that you didn't. Hope you had good US ties while you were gone (rent, mortgage, car payments etc). Plus they will probably ask how you afforded it as well. So get your documents and proof ready...
Good. The longer ago the trip, and the less travel since, the better it works out for you. Your 'rent' situation will be an excellent backup to your claim.
Open ended in the sense that your intentions to return to US are not clear, like an assignment oversees with no end date.
That's exactly what I meant.
The key thing is to be able to demonstrate that when you departed from the US, you knew when you'd be coming back.
