Folks -

Any help would be appreciated !! If approved, do they give the passports back the next day ?

I have a interview date this thursday. This quote was included in their interview letter. Should I cancel my appt ? I am going for a re validation stamp. I got my first stamp last year in Toronto. I am a resident of Canada but for Ontario... THANKS !!

<< The U.S. Consulate in Halifax only issues employment based (“H”,
“L”, “O”, “P”, “Q”, and “R”) visas for residents of our Consular
district and for state-side revalidations. >>

Success

Thought I would share my success story since this board has been so helpful to me.

Background
- Pakistani Citizen
- Revalidation stamp
- Canadian PR (Had no effect on decision)

Story
Arrived day before to get $100 cashiers check at Scotia Bank. There are multiple banks within walking distance. Stayed at Marriott Harborfront.
Got to Consulate at 8 45. was 10th in line. Even though you have an interview time, they go by a first come first serve basis. Security guard outside was very nice and checked documentation. He let me in where I went through screening and gathered all documents. Documents were submitted and I patiently waited. Was called up for fingerprints and then for the interview. Questions were - When did you first enter the US, where did you first work etc etc. asked about whether company had filed for GC and asked about where my family was. Paperwork was in order and I was told to come back at 3pm the next day to pick up.

Good luck to all.

PS - Stay at the Marriott, they have a skywalk to the consulate. Couldnt be more convienient. Also have a resume. They asked for that.

Unfortunately I didnt. Its about a 3 hour drive one way and I had some stuff to do in Halifax.

On the other hand, I wanted to write about a few things that might help the travelers to Halifax.
1 - There is a mall (Scotia Square) within walking distance of the Marriott which has an assortment of well priced ethnic food including a very quaint Indian fast food (A taste of India) place (for all those South Asians on this board)
2 - Right next to the US consulate is a casino where you can gamble away your money. Its actually quite nice and right next to the hotel.
3 - There is an old fort (citadel) which you can visit right in the center of Halifax. It was a memorable experience.

Hope you all enjoy your time here.

PS - I got my passport the next day at 3pm
