Now that we have got our GC, do we need to change our SSN?
I am sure we do but my friend says no?
Thanks

However, making the SSA know that you are a permanent resident is to your advantage, as it can help with solidifying your eligibility for benefits and reduce the chances of problems with ICE and eVerify. There is no need to change the card.
My I-485 is approved effective 6/10/08, and I have received my GC as well. But I applied for renewal of my 1st EAD well in advance sometime in May 2008 (anticipating the end of validity in Sep.08). Will my EAD be denied or rejected? Will the application do anything to my GC?
Thanks everyone, I thought I had to change it or at least inform them. I'll go let them know this week so I can be assured everything is correct.

I did not change it. What on the card matters? I dont think so. When I process employment, only # was asked, not the card.
