Hey all

I came to US With H1B visa and now granted recommended approval and got my Employment Authorization Card

Do you I need to go to SS and change my information on the records there ? As it was associated with a work contract for a specific employer and now after getting the employment authorization no more limit for working..

do you have a restricted or an unrestricted social security number? If it is restricted, you need to go to the Social Security office and change it to an unrestricted social security number.

you should have unrestricted SS #, you dont need EAD, if you got unrestricted SS#

How can I know if its restricted or an unrestricted ?
the SS card says ( Valid for work only with DHS authorization)

That is a restricted social security number. Unrestricted social security number has nothing written on it. Since you already have EAD, I wouldn't worry too much about it right now. Once you get final approval, go to the social security office and have it changed. With an unrestricted social security card you will not have to worry about EAD since you can get employed with an unrestricted social security card and your driver's license or any other Government issued ID.
 
SSN for Asylees

Previous answer was correct.
When you get final approval (takes 3-12 months on average, mine took 9 months), take this letter and I-94 stamped asylee to the nearest SS Office.
SS will remove that verbiage and issue you new card.
Some SS offices do not deal with a lot of immigrants so you might want to print the following page from SS Website that basically states that DHS requested SSA to treat asylees as permanent residents for the purpose of employement.
