Hi all, FYI I finally got my ssn after exactly 7 weeks from applying. I can now go ahead, rent an appt, get utilities (electricity, cable, internet).

I wonder if i will be facing any issues since when they do my credit check (electricity I am most afraid, since appt may come with cable and internet included) they will see it's empty (yes yes I applied for a credit card today but it will take a couple of weeks to start to build credit that way and no credit will be found for the time i NEED to get an appt).

Any suggestions are welcome. I am alone in this. I just only have you guys.

Of course you will have problems. This was explained to you earlier when we were exploring why the rush to get SSN.

The electric company will pull a blamk report when you give them your SSN. They could quite easily conclude that you have given a phoney SSN and deny you service. That is whay you ALWAYS need to speak to someone with approval authority when dealing with so-called credit items, not some data entry type, or worse, online software.

It will take MONTHS to establish a credit rating.

I had the same problem when I moved to florida without any credit card for six months. do not worry. most power / cable companies ask u to submitted security money. $160 in case of power and $80 for cable. They will never deny u of basic services..........
