Hello all,
I writing this on the behalf of my younger brother (he is a US citizen) who is mentally disabled. He is currenlty receiving disability from the US government. He doesn't work. He can read and write, but his speech is slurred and he the mental capability of a 7th grader.
My question is this: My family and I would like to get him married to a girl from India. He would go to India and have the marriage there. When he gets back, he would file a spousal visa for his wife. I would fill in as a sponsor since he only makes 4,000 US from his disability payments. Once married, they would both live with me.
The girl is mentally fine but is only has a high school education and doesn't speak English. She is more than capable of working in the US if she moved here.
My younger brother is a wonderful human being and we would love for him to have a life partner.
Can this work or are we wasting our time? What do you think the hangups would be? Any other route we should take?
Thank you so very much for every response.
Sincerely,
Concerned Brother
