Sponsoring parents for a green-card

Hello everyone,

If a US citizen sponsors parents (who have a Ten year tourist visa) for a green-card, what happens to the validity of their tourist visa? The intent has clearly changed from non-immigrant to immigrant. The parents would be staying in India during the processing; but may visit depending upon the length of the process..

when they get their immigrant visas, their non-immigrant visas will be annuled. Before that they may travel to the States.
