Sponsor only mother and not father to the US?

My parents are still married but we just want to sponsor my mother and not my father. Is this case normal and acceptable? Will she pass interview when people ask why your husband not coming to the US?

I'm US Citizen and my father just doesn't want to live in the US. That's why.
 
Hi

Please specify weather your mother is planning to get settled in US or she will return back after some days.

If she is planned to return after some days she can answer as "I've planned to spend time with my son and his family"
