I have a doubt and some questions regarding the sponsor thing. Has there been any change in the DV in later years? It used to be as far as I know that the difference between DV and other channels to obtain GC was that the lottery was just that: a lottery and there wasn't a need for a sponsor of any kind if you won the lottery.
I also find it suggestive that when you look around in the official websites for DV and such you cannot really find anything that tells you need a sponsor for the DV. In fact the form DS 230 has a space for sponsor but it seems to me this is because it is the same form used for other kind of visas leading to GC for which you do need a sponsor.
We called KCC to ask some questions and most questions received a quite straightforward answers except the one about sponsors. When we asked we we were told that the issue will be sorted during the interview and left it at that without clarifying if we need or not one, which was the question in first place.
From reading the experiences of many people in several consulates worldwide I find that many were not asked anything about sponsors, or assets of jobs or anything about finances. Could it be that actually there is not a regulation proper about sponsors but it is used discretionarily when the officer suspects the applicant might be in trouble finding job or supporting themselves?
Anyway, here is my question now, assuming all my disgressing above is wrong and I need as much as I can take to the interview.
A job offer is said to be enough as proof. Does a job offer need to be a concrete, already settled one? Or could it be a prospective jobe; for instance if I applied to a job within my profession and I have a letter stating they are considering my resume, would that be considered good? I am talking with a few possible employers and a couple are more likely and a few other might or might not be, but I have exchange of correspondence with all and eventually one would come up as the best. Would these letters etc. suffice or a job already secured is needed. (I guess that if a job already secure is what is needed then one would not need the DV and could go the traditional way?).
Another question. It is my spouse who won the DV but I am the one who actually works in our household, do the job offer/s have to be for my spouse or is it ok that I am the one offered the jobs even if my spouse is the main applicant?
Thanks a lot for reading.
