Spain

I'm thinking of changing my travel plans since the French don't like us people without GC. I was wondering if the Spanish do give visas to people with RTD and no GC. I thought Spain would be fun since Spanish is my first language and it would be easy to get around. Anyone has any experiences that they can share? I'm wondering about the Spanish consulates here in the US and also anything to do with Spain itself.

Thanks!

It is our next plan probably. I have not called them and ask the requierment but it shouldn't be a hassell.

Let me know from the process.
I will keep you posted if I got anything out of it.

Thanks. I'm planning on travelling in May or June. I haven't checked with them yet. But I'll share the info when I do so.

I've heard that it's easier to get a shengen visa from embassy of spain (from all the other embassies). So if you still want to go to France maybe you can get your shengen visa from Spain and go there as well as France. I know a couple of friends who did that.

I want to go to France for sure and I dont want to risk being denied when I try! I'm thinking just go straight to Spain and then take a train to France. It might be a little expensier, but it would be fine as long as I get the visa. I think I will request one with multiple entries and go around europe with that. I'm getting so ahead of myself! I dont even have my RTD yet :p

I just emailed the Spanish consulate in Chicago and they are so rude :(
Now I'm scared of asking them for a visa. They basically told me that you are able to get your visa without the GC and with just the RTD, but they said it in a very mean way! And with all caps because I emailed the person back to make 100% sure that it wouldn't be a problem..
Maybe I should just go to Germany and avoid all consulates, why people are so mean in consulates??

I hope these f**ing europeans go to hell. They have the mentality that they are the best...They do not know how to treat individuals..they act if someone is going to go and live in their country...Pathetic!

If any "Europeans" on this board, please change my views..but I just can't stand these rude people..

Not all europeans are rude - consider myself
:) , I am very polite. And don't have the mentality that I am the best. The thing is that people in embassies are just like people in general - some are nice, some are not at all. Or like some on this forum that write f*** words to others for any reason. So please, do not generalize.
Easy -to- get visa is through the Netherland embassy- you have to show lots of supporting documentation (whether you are asylee on RTD or LPR on GC), but they treat RTD very decently. At least the embassy in DC.

Hmm Ok let me rephrase myself, EUropeans from rich countries such as Germany, France, Greece, Spain etc are all rude. Even the embassy of netherlands in DC is horrible. I have been there before for Transit visa before I had GC and man they treat you like you will go and vaccum their resources when you land there...I told the lady there..You can keep your transit visa because I iwll go to Germany instead(when I was going to India).

Really, they asked you to get a transit visa for Netherland? I have gone to India through Amsterdam twice on my RTD only (did not have my GC yet) and did not need a transit visa. Or do they require transit visa for nationals of certain countries? Strange...

Also, I dont think that division on rich and poor countries applies to Europe. They are all quite well-off there now. Not all europeans/ americans/canadians/south americans... are rude. Rudeness is a personal quality and does not depend on nationality or wealth, or poverty for that matter.

Dude americans are the nicest people compared to Europeans snobs.

Okay. You tell me if I'm being too sensitive.. He didn't even answer all my questions from my first email =(

Starting from last email to first..

"I DID ANSWER YOUR QUESTION... I SAID IF YOU DO NOT PRESENT A REFUGEE TRAVEL DOCUMENT "OR" A GREEN CARD YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PROCESS THE VISA. WHICH MEANS IN MY UNDERSTANDING AND MOST PEOPLE...THAT IF YOU PRESENT YOUR REFUGEE TRAVEL DOCUMENT (SHOULD BE A PASSPORT ISSUED BY THE US GOVERMENT) WITHOUT THE GREEN CARD "YOU WILL BE ABLE TO PROCESS YOUR VISA."

Cordially I remain,

If you do NOT present either a refugee travel document or green card we are not able to give you the visa.

Sincerely,

To whom it may concern,
I would like to visit Spain next summer and I was wondering if I'm going to able to do so. I was reading the requirements on your website and I have a few questions.
First of all, I'm a Peruvian national. My current status in this country is "Asylee" and I will be elegible to apply for Permanent Residency on April of this year. However, I won't have my green card by the time I want to travel due to the time that they take. I'm currently applying for a Refugee Travel Document and I will probably get it on April/May of this year. I was wondering if it would be okay that I won't have a green card in hand by the time I want to travel.
Also, I was wondering how much ahead of time I should apply for the visa since it says it takes 4 to 6 weeks to process, and sometimes it can even take more. I would like to travel by mid or end of May. I'm planning on making Spain my main destination, but I also want to visit Italy, France, and Germany for a few days. Finally, do I have to make an appointment ahead of time to apply for this visa or do you do walk-ins?
Thank you very much in advance,
Veronica"

I actually like Europeans a lot. The thing that shocked me was that this person was pretty rude in my opinion. I just wanted to clarify that I do not need a GC for sure. I'm hearing a lot that people at consulates treat people with just RTD really bad. It kind of sucks. :(

I haven't been in a Spanish speaking country for 7 years now. I didn't want to use it because I know my spelling is terrible, especially with the accents. I thought it would be rude writing them with a bad Spanish.. I guess each person has different opinions of what is considered rude.

I dont think you were rude... however, he did reply your question. Not very clear or as you expected but he did.

That's true, but I just wanted to make 100% clear because I did call the French consulate and they told me it would be okay if I'm applying for a GC, but they keep denying people. I just though it was unnecessary to reply back in that way. I expect people from consulates and embassies to be more diplomatic than that. Oh well, I'm a pretty sensitive person too, so maybe that is why I took it as rude. I guess it doesn't matter now.

The French consider it as rude. A friend of mine, from a french speaking
country, once had a hard time with a French official when he use english
while in fact he was fluent in French.
