Company A sponsored me for I-140 which was approved Decb.3-01. Since then the company didn\'t file for I-765 & I-485 without any known to me reason. I signed a contract with them that states they must hire me for 2 years till I get my resident alien card ,and also they would have to pay for application fees and they never did, and so far I had to pay for everything or they would be breaching the contract. The company told me that I shoudl\'nt continue in school, nor go back to the country of origin as once we would apply for the I-140 your status would be pending. Since then I was out of status (one year). Luckily, the recruiter file for I-140 before the Life Act (April 31, 2001), so that places me under the ACT and file for an I-485 supplement A ($1000 penalty).I hired an immigration lawyer who has filed for I-765 & I-485 recently. Q.: IF the company that has petitioned me is not contacting me, but did not revoke the I-140, CAN I WORK FOR SOMEBODY ELSE OTHER THEN THE PETITIONING COMPANY, SINCE I APPLIED FOR I-765 & I485, ALONE?? Q.: CAN I TRANSFER THE I-140 TO OTHER COMPANIES SINCE THE PETITIONING COMPANY IS NOT RESPONDING (I\'m TRYING TO GET A COPY FOR THE I-140 SINCE THE COMPANY Won\'t RELEASE IT TO ME, WHICH I\'LL SEND TO THE INS LATER TO ACCOMPANY THE I-485). Q: DO I NEED THE COMPANY\' CONSENT TO TRANSFER THE I-140 TO ANOTHER COMPANY IF THOUGH THERE\' RE NOT RESPONDING TO ME??

Not much hope...

I 140 is not transferable. So it is difficult to continue with the GC process. If you think there is a breach of contract, use a lawyer to enforce the contract and make them file the I485 as part of the settlement. To me that is the only way out. You have to maintain some kind of legal status until you file I485. Sorry.

When you say contract, is it an employment contract? Are they paying you your salary or whatever? If they donot contact you it does not automatically mean that they have revoked your contract!
You need to talk to an employemnt lawyer and make it work in cohesion with your immigration lawyer
