I received letter from INS that the petition has been approved for my sisters after 5 years.

Priority Date: Jul, 26, 1999
Notice Date: May, 17 2005

what come next? how long it takes after the petition is approved for sister or brother of US citizen.

can any one please advice me.

thanks

It takes approximately 12-14 years

The next steps are:

(1) You will be notified to select and agent and to acknoledge that you are still interested to immigrate. Your brother/sister has to sign and send it back with an application fee (about $70 today) This will take about 11 years or so

(2) You will receive forms (Affidavit of support) that you have to send along with tax returns/W-2s/asset details if income is not sufficient

(3) You have to send an application fee (currently $380) per immigrating person (# of family members X $380)

(4) Wait for the Immigration Application forms that must be filled, medical exams and interview from embassy when visa# becomes available.

actually, it's more like 6-7 years wait now. Since your priority date is in 1999, and right now DOS is processing 1993. :)

Fresh Application

I have a friend who wants to sponsor her married sister with two kids aged 15 and 12... how much time she should expact it will take in total.... she has not even started the process.....

Thanks for your feedback in advance....

I am also in the same boat. I am presently in the US and also pursuing my Green Card through my company.

My question is as follows "Will the approval from the INS I-797C empower me to work in the US bypassing the H1B requirements". It takes six years for the allocation of a visa number but can the applicant reside in the States and change employers. Thanks.

sir,
my I-130 priority day is 5/20/1998 when my sister filed the petition (approval notice received last week) for me and my daughter who was aged 16 on 5/20/1998.
