Should the 2y residency be consecutive or can they accumulated through many years?
Hello,

I would like to know if the 2 y home residency req. have to be 2 full years staying in my home country or they can accumulated over time?
That is, does it count if after my J1 expired I spent 1 years in my home country, then came back to the US on a F1 to study in the US. SO now does it mean I fulfilled 1 year already?

Also, if while on a f1 in the US , I traveled back to m home country for 2 months, + 1month for vacations, do they count towards the 2 y requirement??

I believe that those also count towards the 2-year requirement. A lawyer at my previous company said the residency does not need to be consecutive. You may want to confirm this again.
 
Every day you spent in your home country AFTER you finished the J counts toward the 2 year requirement.
