Should he pass through JFK airport first?

One of my friends is DV2009 winner , He plan to travel nearly,he wanna go to Michigan (MI), as u know guys if u buy delta ticket and not use it or u are delay u will lose it
He is afraid to cut the ticket to MI ( from Egypt along with NY ticket ) and then they delay him in NY and then lose the ticket

So, should he pass through JFK airport first
?.......................
 
I'm not sure if I understand your question correctly...but as far as I understand it....

If he is affraid that his connecting flight will leave on time and his first flight will be delayed, he must make sure to have at least 2 hours between 2 flights since the first entry in the US will be to go through customs. Specially JFK is known just as Philly for their huge lines at customs and delays....better safe than sorry.
Sometimes they will put you on a different flight but to stay away from all that hassle, just make sure you have a reasonable time between flights, specially if you expect to be checked more than normal...I have had one time that I was through customs so quickly and had to wait for hours and one time it took almost 2,5 hours...you never know.

Right now one of my friends is having a delay in NY to get home...almost all flights are delayed coming in and leave later...flying isn't much fun anymore as it used to be.
 
He can take any aiport that has either a connecting flight to Michigan or take a direct flight. You don't have to enter the US through JFK, if that is your question....actually if you can stay away from JFK or Philly it might save him a lot of delays....

If your friend already bought a ticket from Egypt to MI (transit @ JFK), It means first US-airport your friend's entering is JFK (POE), your friend has to pass thought JFK first. Please check out the ticket. Normally you will have enought time in that airport for next connecting flight (domestic flight).
My advise to you, as soon as possible to go to custom for check up and interview.

If you friend has not bought a ticket yet, he/she may chooces any international airport in USA as POE.
Or he/she may find suitable domestic flight from JFK to MI, if POE will be JFK
 
hi ,
my POE was JFK. i have 1/2 hour for Migration and other things. So he need other 1 hour to go to the gates. to be in OK he need 2 hours so that he get the other trip.

Please note that it is preferable to submit your immigrant visa packet at the final destination of your trip. If you are having a short connection from JFK airport to Michigan, you may then hand your packet to the immigration officers at Michigan airport.
